Quote with 4 games that hold special memories: Wii Play Star Wars Battlefront 2015 Breath of the Wild Metroid Prime 4
Difficult to articulate how much A for Effort made me laugh. Rhythm Heaven Groove is so good
Welcome to family Blarney 🥹 4 months old, we just adopted her this morning
I've FINALLY gotten to play F-Zero AX!! Went to Galloping Ghost arcade yesterday with some friends. AX is so cool, sliding with the paddles behind the steering wheel (and the steering wheel's general shape) helps make that connection between F-Zero and F1 even more legible. Incredible cab
Love the Mario Kart World update with the added Knockout Tour routes and stickers in Photo Mode. This patch finds new fun in the pre-existing game in a way that really demonstrates how rugged the core of MKW is. I don't need new track DLC, just more ways to interact with what's already here
First run report card! I already find Star Fox to be outstanding and have a hard time "seeing through it" to 64 underneath. One moment I loved: in the cinematic before Macbeth, Peppy offered some narrative context for the alternate route into Area 6 that made that path both legible and encouraged!!
Xenoblade Chronicles has immediately become one of my all-time favorite games 🥲
MY STAR FOX PRELOAD IS BEAMING IN FROM THE LYLAT SYSTEM ONE BYTE AT A TIME
By the time you show me: -Switch Sports Resort -Xenoblade Genesis -Goated RH Groove update -Goated FE update -Dragons Dogman 2 DARK ARISEN(!!) -Onimusha day 1 -DMC 5 -New HD-2D Final Fantasy -KH 1-4 I don't even care that the OOT showing was flimsy and I'm afraid of the art style
I love this piece. As a response to mine on Tomodachi Life (which Giovanni cites!), it's a great look into how Living the Dream's community has developed since launch into something close-knit, specific, and inspiring. The sort of writing that makes me want to boot the game back up!
Great stuff here from @lukeplunkett.com, a very clear and strong case for why we need to reframe the way we speak on the business of videogames, not only to ground our perspective in the act of playing but to not accidentally align ourselves with the last group we should be aligned with (CEOs!)
One of the great privileges of having Jake in this space is that his work is grounded in a real reverence for, and knowledge of, story structure. I come away from his 7000 word essay (on a game I don't really care about!) with these vital insights that I can apply to my own writing and analysis
New great and icky detail I noticed in the Star Fox character art: LOOK AT THE WEBBING BETWEEN SLIPPY'S FINGERS YUCK (positive)
Like if you really look at what Star Fox Assault was doing, I don't think this direction feels so crazy
See this is really good. The designs for the Star Fox crew have immediately grown on me since getting flashbanged by the reveal. I would also argue that this style has a lot of continuity with OG 64 and Assault's art direction, before Command and 64 3D took the series in a cuter direction
