Just finished reading Such Lovely Skin (I loved it) and I’m now realizing that video game horror stories are totally MY JAM. Here are some of my favorites so far.
Recently found (thanks to a Reddit thread) a book I remember reading and loving in the fourth grade. Found a copy online and just finished reading it. Have to say, it’s actually pretty good and enjoyable. Lots of fun monsters make an appearance. Very glad I was able to find it after all these years!
Only about a quarter into Strange Pictures by Uketsu but wow, am I digging this book. #amreading
“But all the love that I see in that little guy's face makes it worth it in the end. True story.”
There are 20 days left for the general submission window for Cat Eye Press’ Cursed Cooking cookbook/food horror anthology. An extended window for underrepresented voices will run from May 1 - May 10. Be sure to submit your stories and recipes, Horror Community, because we’re hungry for horror!
ICYMI: I’ve started an indie #horror press called Cat Eye Press! It’s not on Bluesky (yet), but you can follow it on several other social media platforms or subscribe to our newsletter at cateyepress.com.
Happy Halloween! Starting the day the right way by doing the Mash, the Monster Mash!
Normalize movie theater carpet in homes. They look so fun and I imagine are easy to clean.
Vicious Fun on Shudder was a hell of a lot of vicious fun! An absolute must watch! Loved it!
Finished Tender is the Flesh last night. Wowza, was this book dark, especially the ending. Almost every page made me squirm. Incredibly effective. Would recommend trying at least once.
Octaman may be a blurry mess of a movie, but it’s still kinda fun to watch a guy in a rubber suit punch people with giant tentacle arms.
Just watched perhaps one of the darkest episodes of the Twilight Zone (Long Distance Call). IYKYK.
I feel George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead doesn’t get enough love. I mean, cmon. Found footage AND zombies?? What’s not to love?
One thing I love about the horror genre is that it comes in all shapes, sizes, and varieties. With that in mind, where the hell are all the entry-level haunted houses??? I don’t want the scariest haunted house. I’m a chicken.
