It took me about half a century to figure it out, but it turns out that I don’t really want to be a custodian of the Republic of Letters. I just want to make homemade cereal bars and bake croissants.

The most productive moments with AI aren’t when it’s right. They’re when it’s almost right. Those near-misses make us pause, think, and refine what we know.
I am sure I am not the only one who has ever asked AI something and felt impressed —until I realised it can't be right! That pause (the "wait, what? moment) is the start of epistemic vigilance.
