Today's outfit using the Japanese Dictionary of Color Combinations. #231 - Hay's Russet, Cameo Pink, and Olympic Blue This is another combination I would never have put together on my own! I've always the earrings with one particular matching sweater and haven't worn the necklace in years...

The Japanese Dictionary of Color Combinations Vol 1 open to number 231 and laying on top of a medium-dark blue (Olympic Blue) eyelet lace dress. On top of the book are a pair of earrings and a necklace. The earrings have a Cameo Pink back and a gold filigree top, with some dangling beads on the bottom and an orange crystal in the middle. The necklace is made of faceted hessonite garnet beads in an ombre from very light tan to a deep red brown (Hay's Russet). The orange crystal on the earrings ties them in nicely with the necklace.

Today's outfit using the Japanese Dictionary of Color Combinations! #227 - Cerulian Blue, Light Glaucous Blue, and Hermosa Pink

The Japanese Dictionary of Color Combinations Vol 1 open to number 227, lying on an Hermosa Pink eyelet lace dress and a Cerulian Blue cardigan. On top of the white parts of the page are a necklace and earrings. The earrings are very simple drop earrings in sterling silver with oval cabochons of slightly milky chalcedony (Light Glaucous Blue). The necklace is a butterfly pendant made with four Swiss blue topaz (Cerulian Blue) stones -- two large faceted marquise/boat cut stones for the upper wings and two small faceted pendeloque/pear cut stones for the lower wings. The bail is split in front so that it looks like antennae. It is on a fine silver chain.

Almost forgot! Today's outfit using the Japanese Dictionary of Color Combinations. #291 - Calamine Blue, Cobalt Green, Sea Green, and Light Green Yellow

I wore this ring with a color-change garnet today, and since it's an unusual stone, I thought I'd talk about it a bit more. Garnet actually comes in several color-change varieties! This one has a fairly subtle red-to-violet shift, but others have more dramatic shifts similar to alexandrite.

My first attempt at an outfit using the Japanese Dictionary of Color Combinations. #256 - Black, orange, vinaceous cinnamon, and dull viridian green.

Opal is another material that might help. Gilson opal, one of the most common synthetics, was invented in 1974. It tends to look flat and mosaic-like, compared to natural opal. Not that a natural opal couldn't look like the second picture, but it would be expensive. So if it isn't...probably Gilson

We sometimes say of my cat Lucy that she runs like her butt is chasing her. As you can see, she has quite a sizeable butt, so it would be scary to be chased by it!
