No no no, Google, we're making FUN of "content creators" for overusing the word "obsessed". DON'T ENCOURAGE THEM!
Was happy to see Matthew's smart post (and thread) on the dispiriting situation in academia. Rather than push for more guardrails in AI tools (which'd be both futile AND problematic for legit uses), the thread rightly identifies the core problems re how we view and offer education in society.
Okay, this is both a little scary AND funny (especially the listed replies)! (For the record, I've never been brave enough to use these open-source claw thingies; I'm a ChatGPT and Claude-stan all the way)
Would anyone be interested in this, but for Bluesky? www.ThriendOrFaux.com (It's a Chrome extension that offers a quick impression of someone's post-and-reply history to help you quickly decide whether or not to engage with a fellow community member) I'd be open to building it for Bluesky if so.
Another great Acahub event, this time in Redwood City (usually they're in SF). Given the different location, there were a lot of new folks and I was inspired to learn that -- for many of 'em -- this was their first time group-singing! Excerpt from the song below: #acappella #singing #bayarea
I have some trepidation sharing this here, but maybe it'd give someone inspiration to do something similar for Bluesky! In short, I created an extension for Threads that lets one click a button to see some stats and a brief AI analysis of a poster's profile.
They also made it very clear that Fable has significant safeguards: www.anthropic.com/news/claude-...
Started ~daily habit of a 1 mile outdoor walk or light run in March*. Happy to see positive changes in my inferred VO2max :) Let's see if I can get to Above Average (vs. just average) in another few months! * this is in addition to my longtime workouts, typically BodyPump & Peloton'ing
HEY "MAYBE HAPPY ENDING" FIREFLIES... The sheet music just dropped! :o (along with an awesome interview with the composer) blog.sheetmusicdirect.com/2026/03/insi... #maybehappyending #mhe #musicals #piano #sheetmusic
Not sure if it's an indication of Bluesky's success or my own burgeoning popularity here (LOL), but I'm getting an increasing number of scammer-follows here nowadays. You know, the hot younger women sliding into your DMs "So how is your day? May I call you Adam?" 🙄 DO. NOT. WANT. :\
We're living in a Twilight Zone episode! The boy "lacks emotional development, holds his terrified family & neighbors in thrall to his every juvenile wish" They (like our GOP congress) had the power to stop him at every turn, but didn't... so he continued to impulsively tear the community apart.
Pro tip: Unclutter your Gmail w/ rapid-fire unsubscribings! 1) Click on "Manage subscriptions" in the lefthand panel of web-based Gmail. You might need to click on "more" to see the option. 2) Then click on 'Unsubscribe" next to each subscription one you want to get rid of. Very cathartic!
I'm an idiot. I looked at the thread anyway. :insert I Don't Know What I expected meme here: This'd be hilarious if it wasn't so damn pathetic.
I did not have the best French toast being in Japan on my 2025 bingo card, but it's true. It's like a cross between bread pudding, egg custard, and, er, I guess regular French Toast. Practically melts in your mouth!
Next time someone asks me "Why are you vacationing in Japan *again* when there are so many places you haven't visited?!" I think I'm gonna show them this photo I took today.
