🇨🇦 I made some things, and more to come.
My Sith Inquisitor Certainly worse fates, even if she's currently in a rough spot right now lmao.
Thanks to @sheeryy.bsky.social for this Xenoblade X comm. XDE really helped me turn around on the game and its characters and I really enjoyed contributing to a piece that highlighted the much better group dynamic.
SWTOR - Sith Inquisitor (8/10) This is more like what people insisted the Agent story was like. A very compelling narrative surrounded by total bore companions. (Especially you, Xelik or whatever your name is) At least Talos was infectiously enthusiastic uncovering all this history as I was.
SWTOR - Jedi Consular (9/10) Maybe I was suffering from low expectations, but this was a very underrated class story. You're carrying people from all walks of life (not just companions) and unlike the Knight, the Consular sells the marriage of jedi serenity and wisdom combined with raw force power.
SWTOR - Imperial Agent Story (8/10) More scenes than the other classes of the companions interacting, and plenty of clever design decisions in terms of both mission structure and presentation. Unfortunately the ending was a bit of an anticlimax for me, but I was going against the narrative flow.
Mortal Kombat II (8/10) This movie could not be more truthful to the games if it tried. Chuckle-worthy banter coupled with actually impressive fights, it will be interesting to see where the sequel that's blatantly set up will go.
Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition (7/10) Covers the band's 50 year history with some surprising stories and hilarious banter both in archive and new narration. Doesn't hit many emotional highs or lows, but it's still a fun celebration, especially with all the fans brought in to give their thoughts.
SWTOR: Smuggler Class Story (7/10) Pretty middle-of-the-road, with a lot of characters that can feel redundant for long stretches of time. It's still fun getting to roleplay your own version of not-Han Solo, on top of getting lots of fun setpieces.
Post the: Last movie you saw 🎬 Last game you played* 🎮 Last show you watched 🖥 Last song you listened to 🎶 I've been trying to record my "canon" playthroughs of each SWTOR character. Finally settled on Steam's built-in recording.
The Evacuation of Kirkwall @rowanartist.bsky.social did an amazing job bringing one of the major unseen events in southern Thedas to life. #DragonAge #DA2 #DATV
Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown (8/10) Infuriating (by design) save system helps keep the anxiety high when it comes to choices ranging from resource management to who to keep on away missions. It's a really addicting gameplay loop that had me regularly losing track of the time.
Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army (8/10) Engaging in both concepts and content. It tells a very compelling detective serial thanks to an engaging cast of characters, plenty of heart and humour, and some great pacing and QoL features. Easy to recommend if you want in to Megaten.
Tales of Arise (9/10) Maybe it's The Times talking, but the way this game handles its themes of oppression, revolution, and generational trauma feels like it was made for this year. It even manages to rise above way more beloved jrps by keeping every member of the party involved.
I *tried* to give it a 7 but I just couldn't. Call me assmad :/ Still, props to the dub managing to pull off harrowing and hilarious when needed, especially when full of actors that normally don't do this kind of project (as befits a covid dub) Also Lucifer and TDE is impossibly overrated like wtf
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne HD (6.5/10) Legendary atmosphere elevated by an amazingly unique dub. Even ignoring difficulty, there's hostile game design that just about ruined the final few hours for me. (I couldn't get Dante From The Devil May Cry Series cause I entered the wrong door too early.)
Xenoblade 2: Torna the Golden Country (7/10) Finally X'd off the backlog. Really helps sell Mythra's arc here and in the base game. The progression blockers and small size hold it back, on top of me never having cared for Jin.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (8/10, Switch 2) A visual showcase that's middling in terms of content and complexity. Characters are given just enough dimensions to be more than their archetypes, but are all performed well. Hopefully the new trilogy this seems to be trying to kick off comes to fruition.
That's awesome! The crystal in particular reminds me of the Ghosts from Xenoblade X
Gave it a go for my entire lifetime, but really exposed the holes in my history
