AFA-CWA, The Flight Attendant Union
@afacwa
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, (AFA) AFL-CIO represents nearly 55,000 Flight Attendants at 20 airlines. Proudly #1u.
This week, 45 years ago: On August 3, 1981, nearly 13,000 air traffic controllers, members of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO), walked out after contract talks with the Federal Aviation Administration collapsed.
Our union remains adamantly opposed to semi- or fully-private airport screening models across the country. We will Never Forget. Read more: afacwa.org/afa-remains-...
On the eve of the 25th remembrance of 9/11/01, the current Administration is pushing a new privatization program TSA Gold+ at airports in Charleston, SC; Des Moines, IA; & Tampa, FL. Any move back to private screeners compromises passenger safety & introduces vulnerabilities into our nat'l defense.
Join AFA and CWA activists for a virtual phone banking session on August 6th at 7 pm ET to support @kaela15.bsky.social: action.cwa.org/events/natio... Kaela is an Endeavor AFA Flight Attendant, union leader, mom, and MN State Representative running for Congress in MN-02.
Remembering the six crew and 83 passengers who perished after Delta Air Lines Flight 723 crashed on approach at Boston’s Logan International Airport on July 31, 1973.
We made a promise to Never Forget the events of 9/11, & never allow them to be repeated. This year on the 25th remembrance, our 11th annual AFA Honor Guard will attend services at the national memorials to ensure the public remembers the sacrifice of Flight Attendants. afacwa.org/2026-afa-hon...
This is our union at work! The AFA Board of Directors has made AFA EAP resources a priority to ensure we have access to peer support w/o getting mgmt involved. Through AFA EAP, our flying partners can continue or return to work quicker, minimizing financial burdens for them & their families.
In 2025, AFA EAP assisted one-third of AFA members. Of those assisted, 35% were first-time users. 91% of users improved or resolved their problem w/ AFA EAP support. We are so grateful to our AFA EAP reps! No matter the problem, AFA EAP is just a phone call away. Call 800-424-2406 to get started.
Mesa and Republic Flight Attendants start getting their contractual boarding pay today - thanks in large part to AFA and IBT working together to hold management accountable. (1/3)
Today marks 37 yrs since United Flight 232 crash-landed in Sioux City after a failure of the tail engine & loss of most flight controls. The crew is credited for saving 185 of the 296 lives aboard in what most believed would have been a complete loss of life w/o heroic efforts.
Known Crewmember (KCM) is continuing its transition to the new program called Crewmember Access Point (CMAP), which is managed by TSA. KCM is planned to sunset by the end of 2026. TSA is rolling out field testing for CMAP in the coming weeks. More info: afacwa.org/cmap-rollout...
Listen to Flight Attendant instructions. Every second counts during an emergency. In the event of an evacuation, leave all bags behind and don’t film or take photos. @iata.org, the FAA, the EASA, and @ifalpa.bsky.social on this critical public safety campaign: www.iata.org/en/youandiat...
We remember 153 people who died after Pan Am Flight 759 crashed outside of New Orleans on July 9, 1982, including Flight Attendants James Fijut, Lucille Brown, Vivian Ford, Dennis Donnelly, as well as Capt. Kenneth McCullers, F/O Donald Pierce and Flight Engineer Leo Noone.
Our flying partners in Guam need our help. Guam was hit by Typhoon Bavi, which was even more intense than the destructive Typhoon Sinlaku that hit the island just months ago. Help our flying partners in Guam by donating to the AFA Disaster Relief Fund: unionly.io/o/afadrf/rel...
13 yrs ago Flight Attendants onboard Asiana Airlines Flight 214 that crash-landed at SFO safely evacuated 288 passengers from the burning plane. In the face of danger, even after 2 Flight Attendants had been ejected from the aircraft on impact, Aviation’s First Responders took action to save lives.
Wishing a safe and happy 4th of July to all of Aviation's First Responders!
TSA expects to screen nearly 18.7 million travelers at U.S. airport security checkpoints between Tuesday, June 30, and Monday, July 6. Thank you to all of Aviation's First Responders and aviation workers keeping passengers safe every day and over the July 4th travel weekend.
Thanks to Flight Attendants organized in our unions, airlines have come a long way with respect & inclusion for LGBTQIA+ employees. But that wasn't always the case. AFA has fought for decades to ensure LGBTQIA+ Flight Attendants have equal rights at work. More on our blog: afacwa.org/gar-traynor-...
We celebrated Pride by marching with our union siblings in ANC, MSP, NYC, ORD, SEA, and cities across the country this weekend. There are still a few Pride Parades coming up in SAN, PDX, and CAK. RSVP here: actionnetwork.org/event_campai...

Juneteenth is a celebration of unwavering strength & spirit. It’s also a reminder that we cannot ignore hate & prejudice in this country. Equality is an ongoing commitment. We will continue to fight for equality and justice wherever we can, in our workplaces and in our democracy.
Horizon AFA Flight Attendants vote 99.8% to authorize a strike. “We have dedicated our lives to Horizon and the communities that we serve. We are simply asking for the pay, benefits, and improvements we have earned,” said Lisa Davis Warren, Horizon AFA MEC President.

@rweingarten.bsky.social & @flyingwithsara.bsky.social released the following statement: “Our response to the Great American AI Act is simple: Hard no. This bill is a giveaway to the AI industry and a handful of trillion-dollar companies, at the expense of workers." afacwa.org/union-leader...
As AI reshapes our communities and our workplaces, “workers deserve the right to help guide that transition, not simply be subjected to it,” writes AFA Alaska Council 30 President LeiLauni Scheideman in the Anchorage Daily News.
Congratulations, @samforstag.bsky.social, on your MT-1 primary win! Sam is a true champion for working people. He's fought for others as a smokejumper and federal sector union leader. Winning his primary is the first step — let’s get Sam to Congress!
We remember the 6 crew and 95 passengers who perished onboard Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 293, a military charter that crashed into the sea off the coast of Alaska in 1963.
Starting today the June bid period, GoJet AFA Flight Attendants will now earn pay for boarding passengers. GoJet Flight Attendants are the first regional Flight Attendants to implement contractual boarding pay.
