I drape row cover over the daylily flower buds to deter the deer. It's such an attractive look in the garden, isn't it.
Alice Hamilton's memoir has many stories of European immigrants who get used up by American factories (and possibly mines too, I can't remember for sure.) From the early decades of the 1900s. Hamilton was a fast friend & colleague of Jane Addams.

Friends of mine have little photos of their cats with magnets on the back, and they can move the photos around to line up with the labels they deserve:
I think it’s like leaves on deciduous trees. When they export chlorophyll in the fall it leaves a bunch of red pigments behind. Tbh this just looks brown.
