And I have one where the brother is listed as a boarder - my GG Aunt and GG Uncle. 1920 NJ Note that Aunt Molly is listed as Sister, but Uncle Christy is listed as Boarder. #FamilyHistory #Genealogy
My GG Aunt was working and living at the Bingham House Hotel in Philadelphia at the time of her 1894 marriage. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
If you want a change of pace, you can try my 8th GGF's will from 1715 in Colonial Virginia.😵💫
#Genealogy #FamilyHistory #GoodNews #BadNews On Sunday, I ordered a 1956 Pinellas Florida marriage license. I received the PDF this morning for the princely sum of US$1.04. Sadly, it doesn't contain any useful info not found in the online index.
Doing a little #WelshGenealogy this morning. Would appreciate any insight on the "Gentlemen Only" designations on these 1939 death notices. The men and women sat separately in my grandparents' Southern US Protestant church, but everyone went to the funerals and to the cemetery after.
#OTD 6 July 1892 #FamilyHistory #Genealogy My great-grandparents, William Donnelly and Catherine McGarrity Nelis, married at Manhattan's St Raphael RC Church. Both had been married before, with both spouses dying in 1890. Elizabeth Donnelly died 1 Aug 1890, while Thomas Nelis died 6 Jan 1890.
Small town with only 2 doctors. Old story I heard: Newcomer to town asked, "Who's the best doctor in town?" Answer: Dr Stewart when he's sober. "Who's the 2nd best doctor?" Answer: Dr Stewart when he's drunk. Poor Dr Huey got no respect! Dr Stewart also signed my great uncle's DC. #FamilyHistory
#Genealogy #FamilyHistory Things we notice when we look closely. The doctor, Philip Stewart, who signed my great-grandmother's death certificate, is the same one who delivered me.
If I look at my account page, right now, on Firefox, I see one set of options for renewing, with a different set if I look on Chrome. I've been told that they test options to see which gets the best draw.
It's that time again! Grandma (Margaret Frances Elizabeth Hughes Donnelly) in a bathing suit, 4 July 1912. Captured by a newspaper photographer when Grandma was not where she was supposed to be. GGF was not best pleased when the photo was spotted in the window of a neighborhood shop. #FamilyHistory
Often in the US, a death certificate will only have the given name of a nun/sister. And it may not be her birth name, but the one she took when she entered the order. This example only has her father's given name, no surname. Fortunately, I knew her mother's maiden. She was baptized Marie McGarrity.
And my father, about the same age, held by my grandfather.
Happy #Father'sDay in Heaven William Aloysius Donnelly Jr 28 Dec 1921 - 26 Sep 2006 Yes, I'm trying to eat his hair! #FamilyHistory

It's lovely when they give us clues linking the family in the old country to the new. #IrishGenealogy 1912, my great-aunt, coming to her married sister, my GGM
A snip from that 2009 email. "Margaret McGarrity" was a new name for me at that time. She was our GGM's younger sister. Opened the entire County Tyrone family to my research. #FamilyHistory
Put these on first and then the washing up gloves?
A user recently posted in the FamilySearch Community, wanting to know how FS manages to improve some images so dramatically. FS declined to reveal its proprietary methods, of course. This image is from the same source; Ancestry's default download name is the FS DGS# +Image#. #FamilyHistory
