Last week, the U.S. side was suspected of lending a hand. When asked why Washington was helping, Trump said Sunday that "We have a good relationship with Japan. We're very strong —- very, very strong financially — and they are, you know, they have a weakening yen, and they wanted a little bit of help, and we're always there for Japan. Japan's been very good to us, with the exception, of course, of Pearl Harbor."

Almost seems like a real life Hydra.

Together, alongside the mundane fare of a typical thought leadership conference, the documents show an extraordinary convergence of power. The registration records list General Alexus Grynkewich, NATO's supreme allied commander Europe and the head of US European Command, who took the post in July 2025 and is recorded on the leaked list as having attended Dialog gatherings since 2021. The website directory names sitting Trump administration officials, two US senators, six members of the Paypal Mafia, a former Middle East chief of intelligence, and a sitting ambassador to the United States, along with the founders and directors of many of the country's largest surveillance, data-broker, and advertising-data companies.
Those executives appear side by side with senior US officials overseeing their industries. Auren Hoffman, Dialog's chairman, founded the location-data broker SafeGraph and the identity-resolution firm LiveRamp, two of the most important suppliers in the consumer data economy. He appears in the directory alongside Treasury secretary Scott Bessent, whose department writes the rules on financial data, and Senator Ted Cruz, chairman of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, which oversees the Federal Trade Commission and its data-privacy authority.
Palantir cofounder Joe Lonsdale, whose software runs case management for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and data fusion for the Pentagon and intelligence community, is listed in the same society as Army secretary Dan Driscoll and Representative Jim Himes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, which oversees agencies Palantir contracts with.

Politico's JMart can't remember that under Biden inflation was being tamed at 3% in Jan 2025, plus he forgot to mention Trump's tariffs being the match that reignited inflation in the US, one can't help but think he is in the tank for this admin.

We can’t seem to whip inflation now, no matter who’s in charge, and traditional voter skepticism is curdling into a nothing-is-on-the-level nihilism.

Trump has been stung by the former, an affordability crisis exacerbated by his war of choice, and has seen his approval ratings plunge into the 30s. But he’s been a beneficiary of the latter — they all do it! — as his friends and family grift is either ignored or rationalized by a shrugging electorate.

In 2003, Buyer created The Frontier Foundation, whose stated purpose is educational funding for college students. The initial $25,000 to start the foundation came from the pharmaceutical lobbying organization PhRMA. (25] The foundation was located in Buyer's campaign office until 2009, when after a complaint was filed, it moved to an office 3 blocks away. In addition, weeks before that interview, Buyer's campaign finance director, Stephanie (Bowsher) Mattix, who had also managed the Foundation, ceased operating as the Foundation's director. 25] She was receiving a salary from the foundation ranging $12,000-$17,000 a year. Buyer's daughter Colleen was the president of the foundation until August 1, 2009. His son Ryan, in 2009, was director of the foundation, according to filings with the Indiana Secretary of State!26]

In early October 2009, Buyer's press secretary referred questions to the foundation, saying
"It's not Congressman Buyer's foundation," although the foundation shared an office with Buyer's campaign office in Monticello. 271
Several days later, Buyer said he had created the foundation, with the goal of creating a sustainable organization to award scholarships to high school seniors. 28]
As of the end of 2008, annual fundraising golf outings had raised more than $880,000 for the foundation. Almost all the contributions were from 20 companies and trade organizations that had interests before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, of which Buyer is a member. As of October 2009, the foundation had not awarded any scholarships, and had given out only $10,500 in charitable grants, almost half of which went to a cancer fund run by the chief Washington lobbyist for Eli Lilly and Company. Buyer said the foundation would need to raise at least $1 million to become self-
sustaining; it would then begin awarding scholarships.

Los Angeles County voter records obtained by POLITICO show that Pratt registered as an independent in July 2008 and re-registered as a Republican in August 2020. He voted in the 2008 general election but did not again in the county until 2020, the records show. He's voted in every general election since, and voted in last November's special election on the Proposition 50 redistricting campaign.

Senate Republicans are expected to delete some or all of the extra Secret Service security funding - including for President Donald Trump's East Wing ballroom renovation - from their party-line immigration bill, which could pass within days, according to senators
and aides. The reason: GOP opposition to one of Trump's top priorities. "My understanding is it's all out," said Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., after a two-hour party meeting today. "My understanding is it's because the votes aren't there." Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins, R-Maine, told Semafor that her "preference is that we should go back to" funding just ICE and Border Patrol. Democrats had planned to target the ballroom with their amendments, but now they may shift to targeting Trump's $1.8 billion fund of taxpayer money for his political allies. And it won't speed things up: The Senate's unlimited vote-a-rama on its immigration plan
isn't expected until tomorrow night.

Here Tusk complains 20-30 cents on government programs to overhead. Has Tusk looked into corporate America? In digital advertising one would be lucky to see that little going to overhead. And in political digital ads its even worse with maybe 40% of each dollar actually going to working media.

When I was Deputy Governor of Illinois, I oversaw the state budget. It became clear that by the time a dollar we received in taxes actually reached a poor person who needed help with food or housing or health care, our own process and systems, we had already spent at least 20-30 cents of it on our own internal processes and systems — government worker salaries, benefits, pensions, facilities, IT, and all of the other usual overhead.
