midnight at the laundromat and i’m staring at you pulling clothes from the dryer. doer of the politics of the urbanist pro-growth left. having fun in ward 1, washington, d.c., the best city in america.
I’ve been reading Gans’ The Urban Villagers on and off since May, when I was in Boston (and went to the West End Museum), and there are consistently nuggets.
don’t know the last time i saw Kurt Vile, only remember the time i loaded some equipment out for him in year of lordt 2009 on good god what was that backstagery thing off Charles Street at that time in the whole world
I saw Da Movie in 70mm and it ruled. I loved it. The Hades scenes were cray. Everyone acted the shit out of it. I cried at the end. Tremendous.
I also had a fantastic tour guide to Keats’ grave this morning who gave directions in tiny squeaks, then abandoned me to eat a bug.
there is no oura tag for “six hours ahead of everybody’s bullshit i.e., in Italy”
the face of your friend AB who is going to Rome tmrw and won’t be home until the day b4 the primary
Ended the nite with an elite handstamp combo (ballot-return confirmation + Black Cat for Mclusky)
Photo by @climatebrad.hillheat.com. I believe we had close to 300 people in and out. This is one of the coolest things I have ever been a part of. All glory to our tellers.
@janeese4dc.bsky.social is, indeed, a growth-knower, and I hope you will support her for mayor: janeesefordc.com
shit been crazy for me and shall not be stopping. my undergrad thesis was on ~*gentrification n displacement in anacostia*~ and i thought i was going for a doctorate based on it. but i hated school and loved working. so now i work. every day i am in awe that what i do can make people’s lives better.
Ultimately, whatever this is is not our bag. If “comprehensive public safety legislation” resonates strongly with you, perhaps land use, housing production, and fewer trips by car are not consistently your top issues. It would perhaps be healthy for some to admit that.
