Oh wow, I loved THE THIEF OF ALWAYS. Wish I had read it as a kid, but still a great first time read as an adult. Now I need a different edition with a cover that does this book (and Barker's interior illustrations) proper justice.
Hey look! In less than a month I'm releasing my next middle grade horror book: THE LEGEND OF LOST LAKE. Wonderful cover illustration by Marc Vuletich.
I've played chess every day for 700 straight days. One might think I'd be better at this than I am. Alas!
Fun fact: @alandistro.bsky.social had the idea to use the JASON TAKES MANHATTAN poster as inspiration for MELON HEAD MAYHEM. I immediately loved the idea, and Marc Vuletich brought it beautifully to life with his illustration.
Take me back to watching JAWS from inflatable tubes in the lake on this day last year for the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest movies of all time
My supernatural horror book of terrible lizards has reached its terrible twos. Happy 2nd book birthday, REANIMATED REX 🦖
Just over 3 years since my first book, CURSE CORVUS, was published. Still really proud of this one and the nice things said about it, though I can't say my writing career is exactly where I hoped it would be 3 years removed from the first release. But I'm not done yet. I'm in it for the long haul.
Thrilled to see another SPLIT SCREAM out in the world. Proud of @sonorataylor.bsky.social & @matthewtpritt.bsky.social and their stories. Proud to play a small part in getting these books published w/ @tenebrouspress.bsky.social. Explore the CURSED PLACES, won't you? store.tenebrouspress.com
I'm the kind of person who shows up at the bar to drink alone and read a book about converting lawn into native habitat. Please don't bother me.
As a treat, now watching THE SHINING (1980). Really wish I had gotten a ticket to the IMAX release this weekend for the 45th anniversary, but alas. Criterion Channel will have to do.
Everything sucks, in general, but my wife and I are learning/relearning/trying to teach our son to sew, so we got a little kit to make mini treats and dangit aren't they kinda cute
Hey I have a middle grade book set around Christmastime that would make a great gift for a spooky kid or just fans of Goosebumps in general. CARNIVOROUS CONIFERS is the 2nd in my Stein's Monsters series, but is standalone. Print copies available directly from me (US only) or Bookshop.
Spent the afternoon organizing all the native perennial seeds my wife and I collected from our rain garden. Hopefully we can expand the garden with these. Nature!
The last watermelon harvested from our garden was a monster, and perhaps the best tasting watermelon I've ever had. Kinda sad we have to wait until next year to grow more.
Got a 2nd deg burn from coffee today at work because a giant idiot set up a ladder behind a closed door and a lesser idiot (me) tried to open the door (that I had just walked thru 2 mins earlier) while carrying a mug full of freshly brewed coffee, spilling said coffee all over my arm. Neat
How does a *sports guy* like Olbermann make such a terrible sports take? What?
About a year ago I released my first middle grade horror book. If you've got a youngin looking to get into spooky season, or maybe know an adult with a hankering for the old Goosebumps books--this is for them. PUMPKINS POSSESSED. They'll Give You Pumpkin to Scream About!
The sky over the lake this past weekend looked like it wanted to do us harm
