I'd love to know the backstory. This places was miles from any other house, although there was part of foundation about 200 feet away. This looks to be from a much different era, though.
If I'd had a tetanus shot within the past few years, I might have taken a peek to see what Lovecraftian horror might be up those very steep looking stairs. Nah, I'm not THAT dumb.
I couldn't get a good shot of the whole structure at once, as it's being slowly swallowed by the forest. This side view what I saw hiking up to it.
I made a nice find in the woods today: A creepy, abandoned house suitable for a horror movie. Yes, it was kinda eerie being there alone. Or was I? More pics in thread.

#watched THE HAUNTING (1963) I finally read Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel recently, so it was time for a rewatch. That sort of thing sure alters one's viewing experience.
#watched DISCLOSURE DAY (2026). Emily Blunt is fab, as are the action set pieces, and Spielberg can still build tension and intrigue like few others. I'm not sure it sticks the landing, though, and some of the emotional beats rang hollow.

#watched ILSA, THE WICKED WARDEN (1977) Jess Franco's 1977 production began life as "Greta, the Mad Butcher," but the distributor repackaged it as an Ilsa movie: The same star overenunciating the same "Nazi" accent, same gratuitous nudity and torture, same comeuppance. I accept it as canon.
#watched BACKROOMS (2026) It's difficult to believe a 20-year-old directed this unsettling, surreal film. Fluid camera movements (some subtle and some not so subtle) and seamless editing build palpable tension and dread with nary a jump scare to be found. Imagine that!
#watched OBSESSION (2025) Bear uses a magic wish to escape the "friend zone" of his crush, Nikki, but ends up in the twilight zone instead.
Author and film historian Kierla Janisse is reporting that Spanish horror icon Jack Taylor has died. I haven't found any details, but in any case, RIP Jack. You're one of my favorites.
