My husband and I always look at the world map before we travel. We have had to also look at the United States when it comes to road trips. The fact that about half the country scores low to negative shows you what LGBT folks have to deal with. Add us being Black and those numbers increase.

This past Sunday, I celebrated my first Father’s Day with my husband, my brother-in-law, my father-in-law and our daughters. If you had told my middle school self living in Haiti this is where my life would be today, I would not have believed you. Pictures are not enough for how much joy is here.

Every time I see the dumb conversations online or anywhere about “woke ideology”, I’m reminded of how much I was exposed to as a child that made me a better human being and never thought of it as woke but it sure was. Exhibit A! Captain Planet for the win!
