I have dramatically dropped off thirst posting in a while because frankly since injuring my ankle in Oct / surgery in Jan I've been in pain and not able to run just don't feel great in my body. But the @nomadcomplex.com lounge pants Kickstarter just arrived and I love them SO MUCH so here you go.

Hit level 77 in PokémonGo yesterday, just ahead of my GoFest Global weekend target (two unexpected platinum medals nudged me ahead). I am currently anticipating ankle surgery in early September, so wanted a couple of months to hit the explore 400km requirement for level 78 so I don't get stuck!

It looks like the next match (the round of 16) for this part of the bracket isn't until next Saturday evening and I'm sure that the forecast >30 degree heatwave over... The entire intervening period would definitely help keep things calm and reasonable.

I don't mean to alarm anyone but the meridian line appears to have migrated a couple of dozen miles west. (Squawkabilly comes in four colours. In PokémonGo, the blue one is present in the western hemisphere, and the green one in the eastern hemisphere)

Cool mats have been a stunning failure for my dogs in the past, who have avoided them like the plague in the summer and only used them in winter. But one was cheap at the pet shop so I figured might as well. ...Maybe... Maybe should have checked the dimensions.

20% humidity and 38 degrees in June, welcome to Starmer's Britain

If that June record is broken, as May's was last month, it will be the first time since 1911 that two subsequent months have experienced record breaking heat.

But the heat is only half the story.

When the 'hottest UK day ever' was recorded in July of 2022 (40.3C at RAF Coningsby), the humidity was just 5%.

This week, the humidity is likely to be around 20% giving a far more uncomfortable feel to the weather.

Don't expect any respite at night either. The humidity will stay high as well as the temperatures.

Tropical nights, where temperatures don't fall below 20C, will be fairly commonplace.

SOME CONTEXT: NVH is the main provider in the UK of masculinising lower surgery for trans people. Another team (at ChelWest) has been trained/ing and takes a small number of patients for specific procedures off the NVH list. Additional context: the list is 5+ years long currently.

We are writing to let you know that New Victoria Hospital has regrettably made the decision
to stop providing masculinising surgery from 1 December 2026. Appointments at New Victoria
Hospital will continue until 30 November 2026. During this period, the specialist surgical team
will focus on supporting patients whose care needs are most urgent or complex.
As you are currently on the national waiting list for gender surgery, your referral will remain
with the NHS Gender Dysphoria National Referral Support Service. New Victoria Hospital will
be writing separately to those patients currently under their care as we do not hold their patient
details.
We are not yet able to confirm what impact this may have on your individual care or waiting
time, but NHS England is working closely with providers to plan the next steps, and we will
share further information with you as soon as it becomes available.
We appreciate that this news may be disappointing or worrying, and we are very sorry for the
uncertainty this may cause. Please be assured that we are committed to keeping you updated
as plans develop.
