My friend and colleague, Ari Berkowitz, wrote a book. Ari is aggressively not on any social media, but he has friends! I've been looking forward to the book's publication; next month it will finally be out in the world. If you're in Oklahoma City, we'll be talking about it at Second Story Books.
Message on the Rock Creek Road Bridge over I35, Norman, Oklahoma, 16 July 2026
Happy 250th. Yesterday's rush hour bridge post. "A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people."
Posted to the Facebook community group i admin. I spent far more time than the poster did reading about folic acid supplementation, alternative forms of folate, and legislative efforts to address folic acid deficiencies. And then i deleted the post.
A family member received this for Christmas. If i were not so terrified of him burning down the house, he probably would have attempted cooking frozen empanadas already.
Hobbes is an irredeemable asshole, but he does love his little Zorro.
Every day of the short lives of these geese, AWACS planes flew overhead, departing from or returning to Tinker Air Force Base. The geese would hear the plane approaching, look up at the sky, and scream at that plane to FUCK the FUCK off, right FUCKING now.
In other news, water is wet. Nonetheless, we decided this was the most appropriate message for this week's Mondays on the Bridge in Norman, OK
Norman, Oklahoma on the Rock Creek Bridge over I-35 northbound this morning. Aiming for being there again next Monday. Message TBA.
The Oklahoman published this shot of ONE counter-protestor (dunno, is the guy standing protesting or counter-? That sign is ambiguous to me) in their gallery of 90-something photos from Oklahoma City #NoKings. That 1:90 considerably over-represents the counter-protest effort in OKC.
My friend @yarnlife.bsky.social made this quilt (and her coat of many colors, which becomes more fabulous every week). This photo is from a small protest at the OK Capitol a few weeks ago. We couldn't make it out to the OKC protest yesterday, but we have lots of friends who did.
Hobbes is updating my mosquito-vectored parasites lecture for Tuesday
I can offer you Hobbes. He is plotting world domination, but he's not on the side of the workers and his one skill is destruction.
Even if i had a folding stool, i'd never put it away. I use it 10 times a day. And the cat sits on it when I'm not using it.
All bees are cute, and yours is adorable, but this longhorn--very common on the sunflowers and other asters in my summer garden--is both adorably fuzzy _and_ cheerful in its sunny yellow plumage
I parked next to a cybertruck last night, and i didn't do anything juvenile to it. Someone should give me a cookie for being so mature and restrained.
