PhD student at SLU studying late 5th/early 6th century Gaul and Italy. Italophile. (Sorry, France.) Purveyor of fluffy pastries. Has a Turkish goat hide in the garage.
Had my uncle's OCS paperwork from WW2 lying around. He was not Murphy sized. Interesting that 6 feet 190 pounds was considered a heavy frame w/ medium build.
"Woke historians won't stop talking about white supremacy!" The Houston Chronicle in 1905:
I get to live in a castle for the next four weeks: a rather exciting development.
Also here, is a delightfully floofy and majestic pigeon I discovered in Chicago.
Famous graffito in Greek left by an ancient tourist: "I didn't like anything but the sarcophagus!"
I found this a while ago while researching something completely unrelated. From a late 19th century Texas newspaper.
Poking around in an old yearbook and found this photo. Had to stop myself from dying laughing in the library. Plus ça change...
