Here’s the statement of the Association of Academic Support Educators on the NextGen Bar exam snafu.

The Association of Academic Support Educators (AASE) is deeply troubled by the disruptions to the administration of the bar examination in Maryland, Missouri, and Washington on July 28 and 29.
Our members work closely with law students and recent graduates throughout the bar preparation process. We understand the extraordinary financial, emotional, and professional investment required to prepare for the examination, including months of intensive study, lost income, travel to testing sites, lodging expenses, and the expectation that the licensing process will be administered fairly and competently. We extend our sincere sympathies to every bar applicant whose examination was delayed, interrupted, or canceled.
The technical failures that disrupted this week's administration did not come as a surprise to the academic support community. Throughout the development of the NextGen Uniform Bar Examination, AASE members repeatedly raised concerns regarding exam readiness, scoring,
technological infrastructure, and the capacity to administer a high-stakes licensing examination at scale. We cautioned licensing authorities that a premature rollout posed significant risks for bar applicants and issued white papers outlining the risks.
Innovation in attorney licensing is important, and thoughtful reform should continue.
However, meaningful reform requires careful planning, rigorous testing, and reliable administration. Law graduates should not bear the consequences of preventable institutional failures in the licensing process.
We urge the National Conference of Bar Examiners and affected state authorities to provide timely, transparent information regarding the causes of these disruptions, the steps being taken to protect affected applicants, and the measures that will be implemented to ensure the reliable administration of future examinations.

We went to Buc-ee’s because apparently that what you do in a roadtrip to the south. It is… a lot. (So are all the giant cars here…) Feels like it can’t really figure out what it is other than a big branding grift. (Buc-ee’s branded deer feed?!) So it tracks. Luckily, John found a section for me.

I’ve decided to slow drop my @wedge.live Cat Tour pics. First up: cats being properly adored. At one point I turned to @drdeencha.bsky.social and observed how surreal it is to stand in a long slow line to walk up porch steps and admire someone’s cats - sometimes through a window. As they deserve.
