Picked up this rad comp from TEST FRENZY on Friday. Despite the fact that Sleepy Isaac left it on the dashboard of the car after driving back from Seattle after the show, it still plays. Slightly warped, but not enough to make the needle skip. That’s the power of @lithicrecords.bsky.social !
Had a great time on Friday with our friends TEST FRENZY at the Southgate Roller Rink in White Center, WA. When is it ever not fun to play live music in the middle of a roller rink? Never, I say.
Looks like I typo’d the episode number the first time around.
Subcultural Wallpaper Episode 037: Abstractions 12:01 am Wed May 27, 2026 Bjørn Fongaard, Floating Points & the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, Allison Cameron & Scott Thomson, Elijah Knutsen, Passenger Pigeon, Zihua Tan & No Hay Banda, James Ilgenfritz & Thomas Buckner
Law Boss is stepping in last minute for a rad show on Saturday. It’s an early one so you can still catch Dazzling Killmen at Mississippi Studios afterwards, if you’ve got that kind of energy.
Subcultural Wallpaper Episode 036: Zaps & Caps 12:01 am Wed May 13, 2026 An episode rooted in electronic music from tape music & new age ambience to dark jungle & minimal techno. Elements of rock, shoegaze, jazz, tropicalia, psychedelia, and dub are interspersed in the mix.
An episode built around improvised music, from dreamy to agitated to trance-inducing and back to dreamy again, with a handful of more tightly composed tracks sprinkled in. Evocations of rock, jazz, glitch electronics, synth pop, shoegaze, folk music acoustics, dream pop, and obscure Motown b-sides.
Come watch me wrangle this pile of gear as part of the Woodlawn Bazaar Crawl happening at Retro Game Bar and other venues in the neighborhood. I’ll be playing from 5:30 until I run out of steam.
This Sunday I’ll be playing an extended set of spacey instrumentals with a more traditionally structured song or two wedged in. It all happens at Retro Game Bar starting at 5:30 pm as part of the Woodlawn Bazaar Crawl. See you there!
Tonight at Slim’s in St Johns! My radio cohorts Yoon & Mr PK are having a hot vinyl throwdown with a twist: Yoon will be playing guitar over some classic hits. Records start spinning at 8 pm. Rumor has it that I may be sneaking a couple 45’s in to the mix as well.
For my home state of Utah. I’ve lived in Oregon for almost 14 years but I’ll leave it for others with deeper roots here.
Devastator is a Voltron-style combo of a bunch of construction themed Deceptions. Would still lose tho.
