I'm muddling through life as best I can, looking for the bright spots in every day. Tired middle aged mom, gardener, fiber artist, reader, and Oxford comma enthusiast.
Today I am thankful for my new glasses - they're purple! (And also have WAY fewer scratches than my old ones!)
Today I am thankful that I finally decided what pattern to make the baby blanket! In real life, the v-stitches are sage green, but when I take a picture it looks blue-gray.
If you've ever met a husky, you probably know that they periodically blow their coats. Today I am thankful that plucking the loose floofs is very relaxing. Harley has a lot of loose floofs, but if I keep up with current events I might need another dozen dogs.
Today I am thankful that we had perfect dog-walking weather. Harley and I enjoyed a nice long walk and even made a new friend.
The birds have been busy, but today I am thankful that there might still be a chance I'll get some blueberries this year.
We went on a guided walk through a local preserve this morning. It's being restored to native plants and is absolutely stunning. It's also about a half mile from our house, and I never knew it existed. Today I am thankful for hidden gems.
There was a really nice rainbow tonight; my photo doesn't do it justice. Today I am thankful I took ten minutes out of my day to enjoy it.
Today I am thankful for this little jar of bits and pieces from my garden. I love when everything starts to bloom!
Today I am thankful that this iris finally bloomed. It's from a plant my mother grew and divided. My garden is full of friends and family!
Today I am thankful that the heat wave finally broke. It shouldn't be over 90°F in NJ in May. It's also apparently National Rescue Dog Day, but I'm thankful for my rescue dog every day. (He is even more thankful for the end of the heat wave than I am.)
There is currently a beech tree blight in our area. Today I am thankful that my favorite tree is still healthy.
Harley had a stressful day. He had his hair and nails done, and now he's exhausted. Today I am thankful for our wonderful groomer who has a high tolerance for husky drama.
I was away from Thursday morning to Sunday night, which was apparently a crisis. Harley didn't even give me a chance to bring my things inside before he insisted on taking a lap around the neighborhood. We even saw a fox friend. Today I am thankful for an enthusiastic welcome!
Ollie is an antique cat. He showed up at my parents' house as an injured feral tom about 10 years ago. Today I am thankful that he's adapted very well to the spoiled housecat lifestyle.
Today I am thankful for Old Man Puppies. My neighbor's dog Leo (front and center) is 11 today, so we celebrated his birthday with some Dogsters ice cream after our walk. I've known Leo since he was about 6 weeks old.
One of my knitting group friends was cleaning out her mother in law's pattern stash and found this gem. Today I am thankful for generous friends and unexpected treasures!
There is a very specific color combination that only happens in spring. My camera doesn't capture it, but this is close. Today I am thankful for all the spring colors!
Today I am thankful that we went for an extra long walk instead of cleaning the living room. Yes, it's messy, but I've managed to wear out my husky.
Happy national puppy day! I've never had an actual puppy, since we've always adopted adult dogs. Today I am thankful for puppies of all ages.
Today I am thankful for beautiful yarn (This is Spring Wildflowers by Copper Corgi from Smoky Mountain Spinnery).
I went to a gardening presentation at the library, and picked up a fresh book on my way out. Today (as with most days) I am thankful for libraries!
We practically had a heat wave today; it got into the 20s! Today I am thankful that it's no longer a frostbite danger to walk the dog. (He, of course, is impervious to the cold.)
According to Harley, I am the worst. First I refused to let him pick up a dead bird on our walk, and then I took him to the vet, where he was not allowed to harass a poor kitty in a carrier, and was vaccinated against his will. Today I am thankful that I was able to buy his love back with cheese.
At our first garden club meeting for the year, we made cute little snowscape arrangements. Today I am thankful for a no pressure, fun evening with friends.
Today I am thankful that it stayed light out long enough for a quick walk before sunset.
Today is Harley's second Gotcha Day. I am thankful for animal rescue groups, and for all the hard work they do to match dogless homes with amazing dogs.
