Well my four candles worked ❤️ up Mayo! I wish my mother would have lived to see it with her hand made flag.
Jesus I am in all the papers today, hyping brilliant Thalia Field, Rachel Cohen & giving out about Ben Lerner’s myopic mithering Must retrieve what they cut. Thanks to Jean-Marc who’s exceptionally well read & basically doing the only insightful print book coverage in this country, it seems
Look at this Anchorite sex symbol let out of the wall to dwell beside her fire extinguisher incase she internally combusts over the state of reading and appetite for desperate banality
Contrary to the dull, po-faced scolding writers often get for writing challenging literary work, the plain people of Canada are enthusiastically enjoying Library of Brothel. We always underestimate what readers are up for. We live in v stupid times but readers aren’t stupid
My next podcast might be reading this book for you If we have enough enthusiasm
AI bots pitching for my anti AI novel is its own bockety beauty…
Check out the NYRB US cover for Library of Brothel You can preorder here bookshop.org/p/books/libr... or from @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social or any local bookseller
It’s only when you have to go get your picture taken for the newspaper you realize you have no appropriate clothes & especially footwear, but then you go back to the monastic life and agree with not needing such things. V nice photographer who chatted abt blood pressure with me
Mad celebrations downtown So many people Try to get off Granville and take side streets if crowds make you panicky. It’s more manageable if you cut off onto the side streets. Also Mexico game had fans amped up. My son has awesome photos on www.instagram.com/p/DZv5GNXGzW... Mine below are shabby
My son is taking great photos at the fan march to the Canada match procession. The proximity between celebration or protest is quite fascinating when I look at them.
French outfits remind me a bit of cigarette packets from 1980's
Thank you so much to the great people who came and and helped me open the Library of Brothel yesterday at the Western Front. My interlocutor curator Caitlin Jones was brilliant with incisive questions and history and deepening context. I wish every writer/artist/reader this experience Support yr ARC
Vancouver 🌸 Today at 3pm Spread the word. If you are local do not watch the live stream. Show up! The whole point of this novel is people need to get in the room together and have actual conversations! Western Front is an amazing Artist Run Centre & building. V lucky to launch here. Love to all
Annie Ernaux, Unpublished journal entries @yalereview.bsky.social Trans: Alison L Strayer and Emma Ramadan
I am establishing what’s happening based on the roars of Knicks fans while keeping schtum on being for the Spurs. Might need a better vantage point than “roars”
It’s the June MIRACLE When they tell you your book is too difficult- don’t heed them ❤️ Thank you SO very much mighty readers and booksellers who passionately support literature and art making.
I am surprised Henry VIII was so short. Unrelated but I think we need to go back to these metal outfits, if we are going to co-exist with maniacs on e-scooters on the sidewalk and Tesla drivers.
This response to my column is so funny. I guess nobody reads Swift anymore. The whole column is about how detrimental AI is for job seekers… which makes it even funnier because he didn’t read it. I love all my readers but there’s always men who simply go off without reading. God bless them
My favourite review of Library of Brothel so far. Jolts! Just like the current state of our global madness, every 15 mins it’s yet another jolt.
Thank you so much to @pfbvan.bsky.social and especially those who preordered this novel. May you get the best duvets in heaven. See you all at TPL next Thursday & Western Front on June 13th ❤️
I am surprised he’s not busy, you know, running the country. Scammers do note that Mr Carney would not be getting a free copy of my novel, as he can well afford to buy it. At least claim you have court-side tickets for me. Or that you grow giant vegetables.
Vancouver 1 more screening tomorrow! This documentary was excellent. I am shook after it. Great to see some friends in it. Poignant, hard, v familiar and very funny. Don’t waste your time with bad, jealous or indifferent men if you are a woman writer. Edna was tremendous. What endurance, words, wit
“May be even bolder and more inventive than her Giller-nominated Martin John” Thank you to Zoomer and Kate Atkinson.
For all people in my timezone sensibly asleep at this hour … I am awake busy imagining what happens when Pablo’s 80 hippos, the 50 bears and 900 crocodiles share a picnic.
HOW’S SHE CUTTING?! A finished copy arrived today From my weary heart to your fabulous bookshelves I invite you to visit Library of Brothel. May 26, 2026 - Canada Jan 12, 2027 US/UK @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social Probably my most unique/ambitious novel. A FUCK AI, gimme a job or stigmata novel ❤️🧠
Imagine getting this text from your mother. I have never heard of Tyler Hynes. It Is so cruel. But our social interactions are breaking down which leaves people more isolated and vulnerable
