Respect to anyone drawing hard lines with Orna + not accepting anything but 100% support. I think Christine's response was extremely gracious (even tho she shouldn't have to do any of this). I guess I have hope that Orna may eventually "get there" bc she's shown up in empathy so many other times? 🤷‍♂️😭

I must admit that my political beliefs have not changed since speaking with Orna. But the function of our conversations was not to indoctrinate each other into thinking the same, but to open ourselves up to the humanity of the “other”. It was daunting to confront narratives that justify my own dehumanisation. Orna’s desire for safety juxtaposed against my demands for freedom and return made for a volatile recipe. But when continually engaging with empathy and kindness, something started to shift. My so-called “enemy” became a person with her own fears, dreams and histories. There is so much to be learned, but how can I know if I don’t ask? I now see Orna as my friend, one that I disagree with but have grown to love. Connection under systems of separation is a form of resistance in and of itself, and I will continue to resist until Palestine is free.

We may have amazing tech now, but we lost a sense of aesthetic that’s for damn sure 🥲

Only 15 minutes into Frederick Wiseman’s WELFARE (1975) and it baffles me that fiction filmmakers/writers/director rarely watch documentaries. There’s sooooooo much to glean about human behaviors.

You just gotta laugh. I think every company needs to do what Dr. Bronner's does: a 5-to-1 salary cap (the highest-paid employee's salary cannot exceed five times the lowest-paid), because HOWWWW is it ok to pay a man so bad at his job $52M/year?!?

The history of the streaming service is actually even more tangled if you look back to early efforts to bring HBO content to streaming, since HBO Max replaced an SVOD service titled HBO Now and a nascent streaming service for cable subscribers called HBO Go. So, in a sense, watching the company’s content on demand has changed from HBO Now to HBO Go to HBO Max to Max to HBO Max.
