I prepared these charts last year. It is a fallacy that Conservative governments are “good” for/to the military, while Liberal governments are the opposite. In real $, there have been more consistent increases under Liberal governments. Conservatives bump up initially, then cut.

I prepared these graphics a while back. They show Canadian Military Spending (% GDP; $BB; and combined) from 1960–2024.
First computer I used was actually a CDC 6400 while taking a weekend, high-school programming course at Dalhousie U. First microcomputer I used (and co-owned with a then-friend) was a 1980 Northstar Horizon; 32KB RAM; dual double-density floppy drives.
