I inherited my dad's copy along with another Readers Digest tome, Strange Stories and Amazing Facts (1975).
Tonight's film is Deep Water (2026). More shark related shenanigans from Renny Harlin with Ben Kingsley as part of the line up of apex predator fodder.
Pepper the cat chilling out and stretching out on the bed this morning.
The bedroom is a furnace and there really is no point trying to sleep. So tonights film is Madhouse (1974), a Gothic slasher featuring prime Vincent Price.
Currently watching Boris Karloff's last great horror performance...
Tonight's Escher-esque brain twister is Exit 8 (2025). A Japanese film based on a video game that has a man caught in a looped subway. Unlike most game to film adaptations this one is meant to be worth a watch...
Time to finally hear the new Boards of Canada album, their first in 13 years! Things may get woozy...
Tonight's film is a revisit to De Palma's Blow Out (1981). Loved by critics but a box office dud on release it now has cult status. In my opinion it's one of De Palma's most satisfying and interesting films.

Tonight's film is Je t'aime, Je t'aime (1968), a French time travel movie said to have heavily inspired Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). First time watch...
Currently watching William Castle produced and Richard Matheson created TV horror anthology Ghost Story (retitled mid season as Circle of Fear) with scripts by Jimmy Sangster, Robert Bloch and D C Fontana.
Watched The Birthday (2004). Best to go in blind and stay with it. A film of two halves, Just as it gets tedious the remarkable ending kicks in. Corey Feldman gives a career best performance, though he does seem to be channeling Peter Falk. Worth a visit.
Just read in Doctor Who Magazine that actor Colin Bell, who was the voice of radio DJ Barty Willis in the Beasts episode During Barty's Party, passed away on 2nd January this year. I've updated his profile page on the Book of Beasts Blog. Rest in peace Colin. thebookofbeasts.blogspot.com/2022/09/
Kittens update, both are now 12 weeks old. Pablo and Pepper have settled in well after slowly letting them have the run of the house. Pepper (left photo) is especially cute and Pablo has the most adorable pink nose.
Lancaster is home to the only statue of Queen Victoria with her knob out.
You're in my home town. Also try and check out The Golden Lion in Lancaster where the Pendle Witches allegedly had a final drink before meeting their demise.
Introducing two new members of the family - Pepper (tabby) and Pablo (b&w). Just nine weeks old so quite shy and nervous in their new surroundings. Pepper is tentatively friendly, Pablo the explorer.
RIP Bud Cort star of the greatest romantic black comedy ever made, Harold and Maude (1971).
