Energy, mathematics, forecasting, analysis. Wine, cooking, reading, music. Generally curious. Hopeful that my country, the UK, will one day come to its senses again
The Daily Sea Surface Temperature data set goes back to 1981. Yesterday we had the warmest global sea temperature ever in the data set. And the temperatures, on a day by day comparison with previous years, have been record breaking every day since June 2nd.
Laura Loomer. One of the US's Lord Haw Haw's. Paid by Putin to spread Russian propaganda. One hopes that she's reflecting on the fact that the US still has the death sentence for treason.
Imagine Count Binface is elected and becomes the UK's Vlodomyr Zelensky.
Shadow Minister for Energy has published this letter on LinkedIn. A whistleblower has accused the Electricity System Operator NESO of not keeping official records of realtime management of the Grid. And of not taking unspecified actions to protect grid stability. I find her claims highly unlikely

Quite remarkable that Andrew Neil doesn't know what neo-liberalism is. It's not a meaningless buzzword. It's a well-developed economic theory and ideology with a long history. In its current form dating back to the 1930s in the work of Rougier and Hayek.
Thank God we have decent people in politics like Yassin Mohamud. And that the public have made clear their scorn for the politics of hatred peddled by racists like ex-Professor Matt Goodwin.
Maybe Burnham should look across the Atlantic to see how Mamdani fixed the $12bn gap in New York's budget.
Just looking at UK life expectancy data. I am wondering about the large drop in life expectancy for 1918. Is this infant mortality from flu? If so, amazing how concentrated deaths must have been in infants. Surprised it doesn't have some effect on 1919. Spanish flu had waves in 1918 and 1919.
Every city has an ominous megastructure. St David's, UK’s smallest city with population 1751.
I've looked at the posts from people who have taken this quiz. There are only two shapes that turn up, shown below. No other positioning on the chart. Is it a glitch or a bit of a spoof?
Is the Daily Express so deluded it thinks that secretly we didn't leave the EU in 2020? That all those queues to get into Europe are a hallucination? All those failed businesses, all that extra paperwork. All that investment that failed to come to Britain. The lost growth. The cut in GDP.

Physician, say this to your President: “Please point to the person you should call if your house is on fire.”
2015 is the only year where El Niño temperatures were higher than they are now. And that was later in the year when sea surface temperatures reach their highest level in El Niño conditions. Never at this time of year. We are in uncharted waters.
I used to think traders were reasonably intelligent. No more. Gullible idiots, all of them.
It already has grown to historic strength. The prediction is that it will get even worse later this year.
Brave Sir Tommy ran away. Bravely ran away, away! When danger reared its ugly head, He bravely turned his tail and fled. Yes, brave Sir Tommy turned about And gallantly he chickened out.
