July games played. Only two new entries this month, with Wingspan Pocket being the best.
Inspired by @boardgamehottakes.bsky.social top 50 list, I did a massive PubMeeple comparison of all games I've rated over 8.0 on BGG.
June #boardgame plays. Two new-to-me games, and I have to say I understand why Container gets so much love. Great supply chain economics game.
May was varied, if not terribly full of games. I think I'd put Excalibur at the top of my "new to me" list, but Huang was pretty good too, if a lot more complex.
I've hit "terraforming complete" on all available planets and moons in #PlanetCrafter - there is a mysterious planet in the sky that can't be reached, so I guess there's another DLC coming eventually.
Still plugging away on this resource-starved moon. I'm leaning heavily on animals to accelerate the terraforming. More islands keep growing out of the sea, which is different. #PlanetCrafter
I have now hit "Complete Terraformation" on four planets or moons in #PlanetCrafter and am beginning the final moon, Aqualis. Just for fun, I put together this little collage of the first four bases. As you can see, the "pave the canyon" project on Prime continues.
My Selenea base in #PlanetCrafter, after I hit fully terraformed. Includes a superfluous megadome on the right, just because it unlocked.
There are boats on Selenea in #PlanetCrafter - you can't use them, but they are cool looking anyway.
April was shockingly slow for board gaming. Night shift and people having busy schedules... The only new-to-me game was Tacta, which is very clever.
Building out a new base with more room to grow. Planning to use a LOT of iron to bridge multiple mesas. #PlanetCrafter
I think I may have placed the base in a location that is too tight. I am up to four floors now, because of the rocks blocking lateral movement. I've got rockets and algae, but haven't hit the "insect" stage quite yet. #PlanetCrafter
Utter nonsense. Iran has given no indication it's going to let the USA rummage around in their country, and have made it clear for the past decade that they feel nuclear power is vital to their long-term stability. Meanwhile, Trump types like he talks - a toddler's level of attention span.
Game plays from March. Best "new to me" might be Reforest, or Button Men. Very different games, to be sure.
I've owned my own domain for 29 years. My ICQ number was 4092887. I was user number 18573 on LiveJournal. I once wrote a passionate essay deriding people who thought the Web was the entirety of the Internet. Go away or I shall replace you with a small shell script.
Telling an LLM to use everything it knows about me ended up with a generic woman with vague geek imagery. I had to ask for what I wanted. Still slop, but mildly amusing.
January plays. Spokes is the only "first played" other than the seasonal Jingle Bell Roll.
I recommend nobody leaves their homes on Saturday in San Angelo. Freezing rain Friday night, and lack of any cold weather equipment? Yeah.
Apparently there are cordless STE phones now. No power, no network connection...
Just to be super completionist, here is my Pubmeeple ranking of the top games played in 2025. I hope to play all of these many more times in the new year.
December 2025 games played. Dice Throne is great, still - it was best new-to-me game in November. Only a couple new entries in December. Chili Mafia is awesome, but Horrified is a bit meatier so wins the new game prize for the month.
2025 in board games (including BGA). Decent array, if not record-breaking. It's interesting to see it accelerate month-to-month.
