Socialist, cyclist, draws. Harmonica player and fan of Northumbrian tunes. Camping/book-worming makes me happy. No DMs from handsome middle aged men with yachts and fancy cars with no posts please
Melrose is very pretty but there's no Greggs, so I shan't be going again
Pit houses. Former mining village, Newtongrange. All pit villages had decent homes provided by the pit. We're in a place where a secure home's a luxury. The wealthy stockpile homes for profit then complain that there are laws to make them habitable. Burnham must be true to his word re housing
Melrose is nice but there's no Greggs, so I shan't be going again #coastandcastles #bikepacking #Scotland
38 miles today and im now camping near Seahouses. My knees are sore but im smiling. F&Cs at Amble, cresswell, amble, craster, Alnmouth, Warksworth, Seahouses. Seals! #cyclecamping #Northumberland
£1.50 chance purchase had me gripped throughout. Navigating the ragged shifting Frisian coast, gripped me, as Carruthers grows under the tutelage of his friend Davies, from superficial fop to a daring freelance spy. Damn, Childers wrote only 1 novel! And suffered a sad end to his extraordinary life
His colours today Yorkshire. Everywhere - Hockney. A love of my life #DavidHockney
Old sewage pumping station, top of Wheatley Hall road. Just spotted this building recently, revealed by recent work on the area. Been dying to draw it. Found time this weekend over 3 sessions. I love this little architectural treasure. @bluesky.arts #womensart #sketchingoutside
Over a couple of chilly sessions. Barnby Dun lifting bridge on the canal. We're spoiled for lovely and useful engineering round here. Everywhere you look there's something cleverly designed and masterfully built. I could spend all my time wandering and capturing these practical, beautiful objects.
Ardagh Glass, Rockware as was, where my Dad worked. Its a bit of a landmark round here and I've always that it has beauty of a sort. Drawn over a couple of days in this lovely bright chill #womensart #sketchingoutside #factory #drawing @blueskyartshow.bsky.social
The pipe bridge at Old Sandall. I'm enjoying drawing a subject over more than one sitting, returning in different light and weather. It does mean things change but it means you feel part of the landscape yourself, as you sweat and are sunblind at one time and shiver and tense the next
There's a magnificent water tower on Ledger Way in Doncaster and I love it. I started drawing it last weekend and it might be finished now. #sketchingOutside @bluesky.arts #Doncaster
Spotted this busy and dynamic twisted willow in the community garden - opposite my house - that's been on my list for a while, first go at it this morning
The other side of the crow tree, from Graham Road, Kirk Sandall, behind the block of flats #sketchingoutside @bluesky.arts #corvids #crowsnest #artistsonbluesky #womensart
Had plans to go out hunting for beauty then saw that it was all there, just above my garden @bsky.art #sky #clouds #drawingoutside
Been admiring this tree for a while with crow nests and crows - dwarfing houses all around. So I've been using foul language at the wind while I sat shivering and scribbling this morning. Blobs of sunshine teasing but ineffectual. I wanted to draw it before the foliage obscures it @bsky.art
Mad but joyful tree at the back of Ardagh Glass Sandall industrial estate
3 poplars this grey morning from the playing field in kirk sandall @bsky.art #sketchingoutside #trees
I've missed drawing outside. Bit nippy and drizzly but still, good to be out amongst nature. Eventually mi feet were numb and I cycled home. But a did a sketch of Kirk Bramwith Drain bridge, which I've had my eye on for a while as a potential next lino print @bsky.art ##sketchingoutdoors
New linoprint. 4 colour reduction, waterbased inks. From a pastel I did in '88 looking over to Barnburgh colliery, the year before it closed. @bsky.art #linoprint #Barnburgh #SouthYorkshire #art
Bloody old Lilac tree, but no has been. Give it a couple of months and watch it go. Boom. Best smell ever. Rockery could do with some work, but, can't be arsed. Quick sketch to try out my new outdoor drawing stool. Its smashing #blueskyart @bsky.art #sketchingoutside #springtime #nature
Quick charcoal sketch. Tulips my colleague's daughter gave to me for help during her work experience @bsky.art #arr #charcoaldrawing
When i went away to college my nana gave me a posser, like this one, it was very popular with my housemates
