Once a bookseller, always booky, so you'll see some of that here. Also trained in horticulture. Now making art among other things. UK
Well this is exciting. A delivery from @fiveleavesbooks.bsky.social of a book about Lois Dodd, an artist I've only just recently read about. Her life and work look inspiring.
Been up in a high rocky place to loosen up. Artgraf, ink, some pastel. #humanmadeart
It's been raining all day. I could do cleaning but instead I've been cropping and adding to some ink drawings. Small studies of the local reservoir. Ink and pastel.
I had great fun on the London Drawing Group class on gestural drawing. 30 second and 2-3 minute drawings.
Tickets are now on sale for the Penzance LitFest, taking place from 7-11 July. pzlitfest.co.uk
It's May, so I'm learning about greens with artist Jo Blaker. Mixing, matching, playing with grounds and combinations.
We're looking at greens this month with artist Jo Blaker. They are so elusive. Most premade greens are not great. It'll be good to make time to look and swatch the grey greens, the blue greens, the apple greens etc. Suspect layering and mixing will be key.
This month our theme for Jo Blaker's Scribbles in the Sky sessions has been people. It's been great fun. Next month, the theme is Green.#humanmadeart
I need to draw more clouds. They are so endlessly interesting. These are from my month of drawing them in January.
Have finally found a way to loosen up when drawing a local landscape. Monoprint.
Using up some wet media (Artgraf) with #collage. I like the tones and colour mixing experiments. #Humanmade
The theme this month for Jo Blaker's ongoing Scribbles in the Sky sessions is Use it Up! The energy you bring when you are 'just using up' is looser and playful and interesting. I'm using up old pastels, watercolour paper 'kept for best'. Lots of fun.
