Abstract
Rape myth acceptance has been connected to increased victim blaming and reduced perpetrator blame. However, variability exists in how scholars conceptualize relationships between rape myth stereotypes and assignment of victim and perpetrator blame. The current study sought to examine how social dominance orientation and personal and social power perceptions predict blame assignment in sexual assault scenarios
among a community sample recruited from social media (N=462). Social dominance orientation significantly predicted greater victim blame and lower perpetrator blame after controlling for sex assigned at birth, prior victimization, and knowledge of others' victimization. Findings have plied implications for therapeutic interventions
system-level prevention.

Kids, tonight we learn stories of Black resistance in all its glory from Black women

Must We Do?, Leo Tolstoy wrote, "I sit on a man's back choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am sorry for him and wish to lighten his load by all means possible... except by getting off his back." The formula for full humanity and equality is not complicated. It's not a differential equation or even multiplication; it's subtraction. White people must be willing to relinquish and divest themselves from power structures that benefit only them. But often those in power cannot imagine change that is not amenable to their position or granted without a permission slip. We Refuse is not a permission slip, but it does show a way of winning equality and equity. Black liberation is possible. It can be accomplished and, equally important, sustained.
But just because something is possible and sustainable does not mean it is easy. In this book, I resist the urge to solve problems with three-point plans, slogans, DIY instructions, or how-to solu-tions. It combats the flimsy arguments that racism can be solved with a good idea, a kind word, or a stiff upper lip. Slapping "an-tiracist" on a work as though it can be certified and guaranteed like an organic fruit is a ruse. The work of liberation will not be solved or spearheaded by one person. The work of liberation will be collective, and once the work is concluded, it will not have to be
done again.

Americans argue over who should have access to schools, jobs, food, clean water, voting, health care, or justice, we are essentially wrestling with the idea of Black humanity as either a fact, an aspi-ration, or an aberration. DuBois was not interested in persuading people of Black humanity. Neither am I.
This is a book about the ways Black people in America have responded to white supremacy-including through force. The intrinsic belief in Black humanity is essential to understanding Black resistance to racial terror. While many stories of resistance involve extraordinary courage, most are about ordinary Black folk demanding basic provisions or protections. This book pushes against and beyond the dominant civil rights narrative that conditions us to see Black people as worthy actors because of their commitment to nonviolence. Like Du Bois, I am going to tell this story with the implicit assumption that Black people are ordinary human beings.
In a world where speaking about Black Lives Matter is polemical, I am fully aware that this will greatly reduce my audience. More-over, my audience will likely be additionally curtailed by the fact that I am writing about how Black people respond to white violence and refuse white supremacy.
Black liberation is actually not revolutionary for Black peo-ple, but it is to white people. To white readers, my writing might sound extreme, but that's because most, if not all, white people are intensely invested in maintaining their position. In What Then

People who engage in a politics of appeal recognize, sometimes begrudgingly, often without much protest, that our world is ruled by hierarchies and emperors that do not favor us whatsoever. That the world is upside down is an easy truth, accepted by most. That everyday people can change the world is an improbable scenario. Power, in this analysis, is an immutable, indelible structure set in stone, rather than an imposing yet tenuous entity resting on sand. Hardened, fortified, billion-dollar sand, but-but!-sand nonetheless.
Through this axiomatic view of power, one can understand a politics of appeal to be, at best, shrewd attempts to outsmart the system, to beat it at its own game. Or, at worst, it can be read through a strictly reformist lens: an effort to alter the status quo, never to demolish it alto-gether. In the case of the latter, those who pledge allegiance to this status quo likely do so because they earnestly believe in the binaries it upholds (good vs. evil, civilized vs. uncivilized, terrorist vs. soldier, etc.) but feel there are certain exceptions to those dichromatic categories. For example, some might respect the violence of men and women in military fatigues as a prosaic, indispensable fact of life, while simultaneously clutching their pearls at violent acts orchestrated

Palestinians, regardless of their legal status, and often because of their legal status, are told to despise themselves from the moment they begin observing their environment. We are nowhere in the atlas, our enemies gloat, and barely in the official archives. Our world is built by the settler, for the settler. ("Settler" feels like too soft a word, too forgiving; "homicidal bur-glar" is more apt). The settler holds the gavel, the baton, and boasts a divine decree. Was going through this zine and how the definition of abolition has been watered down over the years. I remember during BLM, initially we had a militant stance of ‘abolish the police’ and I got watered down to some digestible version of reform.

Abolition has been and always will be rooted in love, unconditional love. That's why I feel it's so hard to achieve, because most of us can barely provide that for ourselves, let alone others. We are only just at a time where we feel supported or confident enough to call out our abusers, demanding accountability from those who harm us. But full practice of Abolition requires a process in which there is community for those abusers to fall back on after accountability has been taken, and that's the part we aren't ready for - allowing ourselves to still see the human in someone who may have never seen the human in us.

Implications and Recommendations
The realities revealed in this study underscore several critical implications and recommendations for addressing gender-based and sexual violence in higher education. First, the study highlights the need for a more nuanced understanding of
consent beyond verbal affirmations. Restricting the notion of sexual consent to its communicative dimension risks perpetuating rape myths and victim-blaming, placing undue blame on victims who have "failed to properly communicate." Additionally, the influence of unequal power dynamics and gendered and social norms need to be addressed when discussing consent and sexual violence. Consent education, including affirmative consent and grey area trainings, remains important (Setty, 2023) and should incorporate challenges to social norms (e.g., heteronormative standards, gender-based power imbalances such as expectations of male assertiveness and female compliance) and support the identification of conditions that render consent invalid (e.g.,

SOMEONE ONCE SAID THAT ALL PALESTINIAN FICTION IS SPECULATIVE; we are always grappling with the past and living in expectation of the future, while our fictions tell of alternate histories—being, by definition, histories told by the colonized. Others say that the definition of the speculative is itself a colonial imposition.
When I drafted the call for submissions to this anthology, I defined what I was looking for as "fiction that features a departure from consensus reality." The majority of stories that came in were of a very high quality, which made my job as editor a pleasant and an easy one. It was also a great joy to come to know so many of my peers in the Palestinian diaspora.
Such were my thoughts as I prepared the manuscript in the summer of 2023. The fall of 2023 has now become the opening act of a monumental tragedy in the history of the Palestinian people. We hardly have the words to describe it, currently calling it a "Second Nakba." As I write, we are still in the midst of a genocide in Palestine, with Israel's relentless carpet bombing and ground invasion of Gaza.
Looking back, it is incredible that in such a short time, during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the ongoing genocide and colonization of Palestine, we have been able to imagine these new speculative stories. I feel honoured and humbled to have edited this

I remembered being in the audience of a panel she was on at a writer's festival featuring Palestinian essayists, and when the chair asked her how she always managed such eloquence and civility in debate, she stuttered when she took the mic. I saw her trawl for an appropriate response.
At first, she spoke in a measured way. "Oh...have I been civil?
I mean, have I given the impression I see this as a civil debate? Or that... this question—which is the question of my life—is even up for 'debate'?"
Then she grew possessed by a stillness, the way Arabs do when their emotions break through on a stage. She seized the crowd up in her intensity as she continued, "I-I don't feel civil. My grief doesn't feel eloquent or dignified. And I am in grief, and I can't sleep, and I know it will be hell for me any time I want to see my family in Palestine until the day I die, and there is no civil feeling in my heart about that. I just want to go home to the place I was born. Can you understand how sick I feel from wanting to be back on that land? Wrath is the only response to an injustice God hates. Wrath is my birthright.

See, the thing is, as a writer you are free. You are about the freest person that ever was. Your freedom is what you have bought with your solitude, your loneliness. You are in the country where you make up the rules, the laws. You are both dictator and obedient populace. It is a country nobody has ever explored before. It is up to you to make the maps, to build the cities. Nobody else in the world can do it, or ever could do it, or ever will be able to do it again.
Absolute freedom is absolute responsibility. The writer's job, as I see it, is to tell the truth. The writer's truth—nobody else's. It is not an easy job. One of the biggest implied lies going around at present is the one that hides in phrases like "self-expression" or "telling it like it is —as if that were easy, anybody could do it if they just let the words pour out and didn't get fancy. The "I am a camera" business again. Well, it just doesn't work that way. You know how hard it is to say to somebody, just somebody you know, how you really feel, what you really think-with complete honesty? You have to trust them, and you have to know yourself, before you can say anyhing anywhere near the truth. And it's hard. It takes a lot out of you.
You multiply that by thousands; you replace the listener, the live flesh-and-blood friend you trust, with a faceless unknown audience of people who may possibly not even exist; and you try to write the truth to them, you try to draw them a map of your inmost mind and feelings, hiding nothing and trying to keep all the distances straight and the altitudes right and the emotions honest... As I went through the evidence, OH MY GOD, you are DARVOing us using DARVO. This is wild. I can’t wrap my head around how abusers actually believe they’re the victims. They’ve convinced themselves. They do define entitlement as “boundaries” DARVO is such a mindfuck.

At some point during the conversation, she began secretly recording me with her phone. What transpires is a full transcription of the part of the audio recording made available to the public.

She would later use this exchange as proof that I had threatened to kill her.
As you can see from the screenshot, the recording she posted was at least 3:11 long, but she had cropped it down to a minute when posting. I do not have access to the full recording. She omitted much of the context leading up to this exchange, as well as what I said after:
"And that's why you should stay away from me".
The recording captures fear and self-alienation, not intent or threat. She omits the surrounding context that I was explicitly telling her about this incident to explain why we should not be together. I speaking out of concern for her safety, I was attempting to create distance in order to protect her.

the way some influencers have rebranded community accountability is great for anyone trying to DARVO a survivor, and it's no surprise that it's exactly the communities where violence festers in polite silence that have adopted it.

and the really fucked up part is that most of them don't adopt this out of some allegiance to abolitionist principles, they do so to uphold a strict, generally looks-based hierarchy, where the (beautiful) faces of movements are never scrutinized seriously, and power never changes because it's just a bunch of friends who fuck each other who make the decisions about what's accountability and what's punishment.
a lot of activists are fucking losers irl, and the way they interact with the communities they claim to serve, even towards people in their own orgs, is absurd.
