My mother-in-law had/has a knitting machine. About 35 years ago she made this and sewed it into a sweatshirt for my husband. It's a New Mexican Whiptail, which was the subject of his doctoral dissertation. I think it's pretty cool. Maybe we should mount it in a shadow box.
This was fun. And I am happy with the result, because he's my secret boyfriend.
The grass is growing like crazy. Lawn guy was here less than a week ago and it's already getting shaggy. He only mows every two weeks.
Me (top right) and my new granddaughter Jane (lower left). We met for the first time this weekend.
This is the anecdote to the decadence of a professional class that constantly chases novel gustatory experience and has come to confuse this empty hedonistic quest with being cultured.

Hubby's reports from No Kings, Northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, 3/28/26, as of 3:00 p.m. CDT: Biloxi - good crowd! Gulfport - Could not figure out where to park. Streets blocked off. Did not stop :( Bay St. Louis - rather sparse. Population < 10,000, so not too surprising. 1/2
It's done! The flowers turned out to be a nice addition. It only just now occurred to me that babies don't use blankets, so it will be a while before it can live in a crib. Maybe it can hang over the back of a rocking chair.
This is one of nine flowers I am appliqueing to the blanket. I have two done. This part is Slow work and a bit dull. I only have nine days before I gift the blanket! I will applique one tomorrow and at least two on each weekend day. At that pace I will be ready to do the final block on Tuesday.
I am done with all the crocheting. All that's left is to iron the flowers ,see them on, then block the whole blanket.
I am so close! I need to crochet two more flowers, applique them on, edge the blanket, and a final blocking.
I took a break from the blanket, but I am back at it working on embellishments. I am thinking about appliqueing a half dozen of these flowers, which are slightly bigger than a thin mint.
Just a few steps left for Jane's blanket. I need to block it, add edging, and then block it again. I am also considering crocheting some appliques.
I am making a blanket for my soon-to-arrive baby granddaughter. The colors are more pastel in person.
I did not see the first memorable sign on the drive to Columbus (Big Jim's Boobie Bungalow) because it was dark. But here is the second
Lucy went to the vet for a shot, a pedicure, and a belly rub. This is what one of the vet techs looked like at the end of the appointment.
This is the piece of rawhide she must have been working on. It is sitting on a corner of the patio in a pile of dirt. The dirt came from. The yard right next to the dirt pile.
See the dirt on Lucy's muzzle? She has been burying something somewhere.
