A convenience mode where bash can optionally block and return output directly would be nice for those quick one-liners — you could keep the current behavior as the default for parallelism and add a flag like sync=true for the simple case.

Overall though, it's a clean API. The design choices — especially the parallelism model and the separate synchronous file tools (create_file, str_replace) — suggest you've thought carefully about what makes a harness pleasant to use versus what makes it feel like a chore. I'd happily use this over most exec harnesses I've encountered.
