Please see the dates of the Bradford Council play in the park events. These events are free and include lots of activities for our young people.
I am delighted to report that our yr10 rugby students beat Tong 36-0 to complete an amazing year of Appleton school sport where we have achieved great success across a number of sports.
Appleton Academy Cadets - berets waiting for presentation at their up-coming Drill and Ceremonial assessment. Drill is important for cadets to move a large number of people quickly and efficiently. It teaches team-work, precision and discipline. We wish them all good luck for the assessment.
Appleton Academy CCF Cadets learning the marksmanship principles and putting them into action to see how steady they hold the weapon. The cadets will be putting their skills into practice with a live shoot of the air rifle by the end of September.
Please can we congratulate our yr9 boy footballers for a brilliant year. They reached the quarter finals of the Schools league this year and showed real commitment to training all year. Thanks so much to our captain Lewis for his work during the year. Marakai was the player of the year.

Congratulations to our badminton players at the Pontefract open. Arnie came second in the singles and doubles with Xavier and Jacob and Jayden came third in the doubles. Well done everyone.
Year 8&9 Climbing Club students took the opportunity to visit the Big Depot in Leeds. The students took full advantage of the different types of climbing on offer including bouldering, top ropes and auto-belays. The students utilised and progressed their climbing skills. A great effort all around!'
We are proud of the first batch of Appleton Academy's CCF badge on cadets uniforms. The badge symbolises the Trust colours, Yorkshire heritage with the Swaledale ram and Yorkshire rose. The falcon representing HQ North Brigade who support us and the blue and white to represent the Royal signals.
Today was our final football fixtures of the year. Our yr7 boys beat Tong 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Our yr7 girls lost 2-1 to a Tong yr 7 and 8 girls team. Well done everyone for a brilliant year of football.
Please congratulate our Bradford schools badminton teams for this year. Yr7 boys gold. Ks3 boys silver. Ks3 girls gold.
Our superstar Sami attended a mountain bike race at Tong’s off road centre where he was one of many national racers. It was his first ever mountain bike race and the experience for him was amazing. With it being a rainy day, he was covered in mud by the end!
Year 7 Climbing Club students attended a trip to Brimham Rocks this week and spent the day exploring the incredible and unique rock formations there. The group were set a variety of challenges climbing up, over and through parts of the rock. Well done to everyone involved.
It was our third tournament win in a row. Our yr9 football team drew with Hanson 1-1 and beat Grange 4-1 to finish in first position. Star was the player of the event.
What an amazing term we have had. We started by winning the triple in the Bradford badminton leagues. We then finished 3rd in Bradford for the first time in Yr 7 and 8 rugby league. Of course we then won the tour before winning the Tong rugby and the Grange football events. Thanks everyone.
Our footballers had a brilliant party in GE2 with Mr Young. We are so proud of them.
I am delighted to say we won the Grange Year 8 football tournament. We were up against Beckfoot Thornton, Delta Valley and Grange and finished unbeaten. Another party in GE2 tomorrow then!! What a brilliant half term we have had.
We are very proud of our junior rugby lads who competed brilliantly at the Leeds Rhinos Challenge this weekend. Well done everyone involved.
Year 9 students had a fantastic time in the Lake District last week on a multi-activity residential. The group took on the challenge of climbing two mountains, scaling new heights on the climbing wall and canoeing on Derwentwater despite challenging conditions - well done all!'
We have had a great afternoon winning the Tong rugby league tournament. In the final we beat Tong 9-1 to take the prize which was a Bradford Bulls signed rugby ball. Joey was the captain and Noah the player of the day. Rugby League champions. Get in!
Mr Youngs sports tour party was very popular (And Loud!!!!!). Massive thanks also to Jenny Wallwork of Badminton England for the badminton shirts.
Our players player of the tour was Jake and our player of the tour winning the Mr Young trophy is KIAN!!!
Presentation time. Our football winner was Tilly, badminton winner was Kain and rugby winner was Freddie. Well done guys.
Our badminton players were amazing today but just fell short although Newport did bring in some 17 year olds to make sure they won!! Overall we finish the tour as 5-2 winners. Unbelievable.

We have had an amazing day. We won 3 football matches, drew 1 and lost 1 and we won our rugby fixture. This evening presentations were made to our superstar athletes chosen yesterday by the director of sport at Uppingham school. Well done Will, Gracie and Blake. We also had captain speeches.
