A great evening at Parliament House celebrating biomanufacturing in Australia with parliamentarians, ministerial staffers, industry partners and Centre researchers. More than 40 countries now have explicit national strategies for synthetic biology and biomanufacturing. Australia does not!

✨We're pleased to announce our first keynote speaker of #CoESB26! Dr Guokun Wang is a Professor at Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology. His research focuses on the synthetic biology-driven microbial production of functional nutrients, such as starches, proteins and functional polyphenols.

As part of Science Meets Parliament 2026, centre members Alex Coram and Bini Zhou went on a Parliament House beekeeping tour! They tasted the honey made by the parliamentary bees, with a reusable cassette frame, and a micro honey harvester, both Australian innovations from startup Hivekeepers!
