Well, I’m back.
This website is redirecting to some spam link for me, and googling I don’t see any trustworthy evidence that the site isn’t malware — any chance you got the link from somewhere unsafe? Here’s what I get when I click:
There is a mobility device laying in the road. Behind it, there are a row of cars illegally parked on the sidewalk. The news story mentions none of this. I'm sad and so so angry.
And while traffic calming has been requested on Oakwood St, Bennett (the state highway) is of course ineligible: PennDOT owns it. DOMI’s traffic calming request map:
Of course this was already known. This road is on Pittsburgh’s high injury network.
The article doesn’t mention the driver’s speed. Why would it? Of course drivers speed here. You can try to blame an individual driver, but we all know this road is too wide for a 25mph zone. Blame the traffic engineers who designed this.
The article is quick to point out that the victim “had been walking in the road”. Let’s look at the sidewalk around this intersection:
Look at this intersection. It’s on a state highway, PA 380. The speed limit is 25mph. Does this look like _any_ driver would go that speed?

I paid $250 for a rental car. Hertz charged me an extra $6 when I returned the car. I asked why. They said that's just the way it is. I asked why their website lied about the total. I sent them a receipt for $250. Reader, I got my $6 back. And 200 points.
