How are artists/creatives seen by people of all walks of life? Reactions/thoughts are a mixed palette - some good, some are neutral, and some think we are just weird. Which makes me recall a memory from years ago. I know our neighbors (specifically the one driving by at the time and shaking their head) most likely thought, there is that crazy weirdo lady at it again. I was duct taping a large white tablecloth to the side of our house, then taping black paper plates of various sizes to it, had my husband come out dressed in the upper half of a tux and top hat wearing shorts (not seen in frame) holding an upside down umbrella in one hand and an iron in the other. The idea was to represent the whimsical nature of a Beatles Song or Lyrics. Here I chose to represent Fixing A Hole (Where the Rain Gets In) and put a nod to "the sea of holes" from the movie Yellow Submarine. I added a dash of Magritte with a man in top hat. The Topsy-Turvy Man is fixing holes by ironing them out and catching rain with the upside-down umbrella. I was very thrilled that I was able to accomplish and capture my vision.

I do think we artists/creatives surf a different wavelength than those who are not or more analytical. And that is a good thing because, really, I feel it takes all types to make the world function and an interesting place. The Beatles themed photo is a good memory of what I can accomplish and one that I can chuckle at with regards to neighbor's reaction of my outdoor set-up. As years pass, I have grown more and more comfortable in my skin, to post my work, share the creative process behind it at times and put myself out there in the neighborhood at large (Social Media). Keep doing, keep creating!

On a beautiful May morning ocean waves wash ashore along the edges of the craggy Anastasia limestone outcroppings found on Hutchinson Island. The House of Refuge at Gilbert's Bar can be seen seated alongside the rocky shoreline.

Gilbert’s Bar House of Refuge was built in 1876 and is the last surviving house of refuge of 10 originally built all along Florida’s coast to aid shipwreck victims. Florida's house of refuge program started between 1876 to 1886 due to the need to prevent the high loss of life and sailing ships from hurricanes and dangerous reefs in a then largely unpopulated Florida. This historic building is on a picturesque portion of beach called the St. Lucie Rocks. Outcroppings of Anastasia limestone line the shoreline.

Architectural lines lead the eye to travel like a mountaineer scaling a section of a route that requires progress in a horizontal direction. At the top the lines curve and have open square cutouts that frame the sky above while the main body of the building's glass windows mirror the a sky full of clouds. Kirk McKay, Jr. Archives Center captivates the eye and allows one to traverse across the top curving surface from left to the sharp angle point on the right. Built in the early 2000’s the look and aesthetic is meant to compliment the other 12 Frank Lloyd Wright buildings located on Florida Southern College. The campus at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida has the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture buildings in North America. A banana split is an ice cream-based dessert. In its classic form it is served in a long dish called a boat. A banana is cut in half lengthwise (hence the split) and laid in the dish. There are many variations, but the classic banana split is made with scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream served in a row between the split banana. In no particular order, pineapple, strawberry and chocolate sauces are spooned over the strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla ice cream. Typically, it is garnished with crushed nuts or jimmies, whipped cream, and maraschino cherry.

The tall ship, HMS Bounty, is docked at port on Peanut Island in this black & white photo. The stern of the Bounty shows the beautiful detailing and the name of the ship. The bow faces west ready to set sail. Many years ago my family and I were fortunate to see both the HMS Bounty replica sailing ship and the Privateer Lynx sailing ships that were docked at Peanut Island. Sadly, the Bounty sank in 2014 roughly 100 miles off of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and a few of the crew lost their lives.

The Rainbow Bridge is an iconic landmark and has become a well-known symbol of LGBTQ pride as one travels into the city of Wilton Manors. This small stretch of road enchants the eye with its bright and cheerful colors of the rainbow. This blue and orange lifeguard tower overlooks the beach and far off in the distance you can see a parasailer and a sailboat.

Lifeguard stands act as important landmarks and gathering points on beaches everywhere. Along Miami Beach near the Art Deco District lifeguard stands not only play the usual role of comfort and safety, but have become visual icons.

After Hurricane Andrew, architects donated their designs to the city sprucing up the lifeguard stations which then became popular symbols of the revived City of Miami Beach. The eclectic designs range from 60's funky to bold & colorful. Of all the 29 stands, 16 occupy the South Beach portion of the sand.

All around Sedona are gatherings of rock formations of stunning beauty. The view from the top at the Chapel of the Holy Cross gives a beautiful view of the desert landscape. In the foreground on the left the smaller rock formation in the middle is called Madonna & Child. The two tall stone pillars at the end are called The Two Nuns. And I have always seen in the giant rock formation on far right of photo as an elephant with the nip at end being the end of the trunk. It is really more clear when you drive up and see it on the other side as more of the 'trunk' is visible. Or maybe that is just me and my imagination - do you see it?

Not far from Saddleback Butte State Park in California's western Mojave Desert, one can find this crumbling ruin that is said to be that of a church. I could not find any other information about the history of this site. Pictures have been taken of this location where it is not in such disrepair as it is now. Sadly, it is slowly crumbling away - I would not be surprised that it might be gone in a few years.
