Interviews with Trump allies, GOP Senate aides and people close to the White House reveal a president "increasingly frustrated with everyone, from his own team to the Senate," a MAGA world operative close to the White House told Playbook.
"He's pissed, and people are not recognizing the level of pissed that he is," the operative said, pointing to Senate Republicans' opposition to Trump's "Anti-Weaponization Fund," White House ballroom funding and resistance to firing the parliamentarian as the fuel for Trump's resentment.

Deliveries of that oil will provide Tehran with its pre-war oil revenue levels at least until August, according to experts close to Iran's government. On Thursday, Iran's deputy Majles speaker Hamidreza Haji-Babaei said Tehran's central bank had received the first revenues from tolls imposed since the start of the war on commercial traffic through the Strait, according to the semiofficial Tasnim news agency.

Trump believes he can bully allies into ceding to his demands before he sends American service members to risk their lives to unfuck a problem of his own creation. He's presumably preparing to demand concessions from Gulf allies before he bails them out of the catastrophe he exposed them to.
The conflicting stories of the last few days are probably not conflicting at all. They simply reflect Trump's belief that the way to gain concessions, even from close allies, is to bully them and issue threats in the press (which means, for better and worse, Trump is likely not going to leave without opening Hormuz).
It's not at all surprising that the Gulf states expect Trump to unfuck the catastrophe he caused in the Gulf. The real drama is to see just how long MbS will accept anything less than obedience from Trump.

President Trump is a man very secure in his own skin. He does not need to be showered in compliments by advisers. If and when the U.S. gets hit, he needs to hear every single well-reasoned recommendation, be it optimistic or somber. The energy shock caused by the U.S.-Iran war is "unlikely" to trigger a recession, according to Bank of America.
Analyst Paulina Strzelinska noted that while fears of stagflation persist, "growth expectations are improving, earnings remain positive, inflation is so far disinflating, and bond yields are not rising persistently."
According to Strzelinska, the environment best resembles the risk-on shocks the economy absorbed between 2005 and 2009.
Rather than a stagflationary moment like some experts worry about, Strzelinska thinks the economy is likely to remain in boom or recovery, which lasts 7 months on average.

Iranian gas imports to Iraq have been completely cut off, the Iraqi ministry of electricity announced, amid heavy attacks on Iran's oil and gas infrastructure on Wednesday. Some 3,100 megawatts have now been knocked off the electrical grid of Iraq, which depended on its neighbor for around a third of its gas needs, largely for power production. British are telling their citizens to get out of Lebanon

British citizens in Lebanon "should consider departing now" unless their presence in the country is "essential," the British government has said in new travel advice issued on Thursday.
"Conflict in Lebanon has escalated in response to regional events and the situation is fast-moving," said a bulletin issued by the Foreign Office, which warned that people should only depart if they could safely access the limited number of commercial flights from the Beirut airport.
"If you decide to stay, we cannot guarantee we will be able to help you," the bulletin said. "You should have a personal emergency plan that does not rely on the U.K. government."
