I did quite a bit of gardening over the weekend. Pruned the mandarin tree - hoping it will fruit next year - didn’t get any this year 😟 My tiny backyard is a bit of a jumble but getting more productive every year. Oh, I didn’t weed out any dandelions - want to leave them until spring!
Have just started reading this book Wolf Hall, by Hilary Mantel. Amazing writer - captivates from page 1!
Yes, wore it this week for the first time. It fits so well! Still wondering if I should add closures. Here’s the reverse view:
You didn’t see it? Finished about 20 days ago! And posted. Here it is!
Walk along Bells beach. Thought you all will like this in your timeline today. The sea steady and calming.
Sunset. South Melbourne beach. Why I love walking there around sunset. Never disappoints. Always was, always will be!
Mine is mountain (tree) climbing! About the size of an orange at the moment.
Finally done! I think I will most likely only wear it on the coloured side. I love how the patterns mimics branding at centre front. Zoom in to have a look. And I had been sad that the centre front pattern would be lost with the binding, but it has actually been enhanced!
This is slow going! After much thought and searching, I found the right bias binding for the jacket. On the right is the jacket before binding is applied. Will need to see if I can get more binding. 3m turned out to be insufficient. Far right is the reverse side.
The moon this morning as the sky pales with the rising sun! Aren’t we so lucky to live on this beautiful planet
And there were people ignoring this poignant warning and fishing from these very same rocks 🤷🏽♀️
19km walk along the Bass coast today. The waves were huge. Here are some for your viewing pleasure.
Speaking of sunsets, here’s one. From last Saturday, up at Mt Buller.
A little progress! Have sewn the front pieces together. The flat felled seams are working! Taking this slowly- more mental ruminations before physical labour. Turned out flat felling is easier if the edges are not overlocked. #geometryinaction!
Walk along the Mullum mullum creek today. Was hot and humid with no breath of wind at the beginning! Totally soaked! Luckily there was a zephyr at mid morning! The confluence of the Mullum Mullum and Birrarung was beautiful! Though the pic below is of the Birrarung (I think)🤷🏽♀️
Starting new project. Got some fabric (not much!) which is black and white on one side and colourful on the other. After much deliberation: making a simple, reversible jacket. Fabric frays madly, so more pain to come. Will update thread as I go.
Time was when the Melbourne skyline had only a few towers. Look at it now! From Sr Kilda pier
8:50pm and still 39C Went out and watered the pots. Luckily, the shade cloth I spread over the smaller pots before the hot weather on 9 Jan. is keeping the backyard a smidgen cooler. PS: It’s much more erratic now, but serves its purpose.
A short walk in Western Port today - 10km The beach was lovely with the tide going out and a nice breeze blowing. Took time out to paddle in the waves
Long walk along the Birrarung today near Fairfield. Some good views of #Melbourne city, and the flying foxes roosting along the river bank. If you ever drive towards the city along the M3 at sunset, you will see hundreds flying overhead. Do check the altitude text for more details.
Project hyperbolic skirt finally done. Made with triangles. Completed the hem by hand over many hours! Drapes beautifully.
8:56pm. Sun has definitely set! So, is this the Aurora? The clouds are rolling in ☹️ But that’s Melbourne!!
Not Aurora Australis but the twilight sky is just as beautiful. Hoping I can see the Aurora in a few minutes.
First harvest from my mulberry bush @liangrhea.bsky.social Only one plant, but it will me at least 4 or 5 punnets if I remember to keep the water up. Earlier this year than normal.
Long walk along Ocean Grove beach yesterday. For you both @pleasurelab.bsky.social and @emergencybk.bsky.social Sound up. Enjoy!
Made kimchi today! Wanted to use daikon radish, but no luck. Made it spicier this time!!
