Self-portraits (V1 2021, mods 2022, then 2023) Emotionally complicated pieces offering an evolutionary link between older self-portrait attempts (driven by how I felt I had to present) and the shark-therian portraits true to my self-image. Note the growing fish-person vibes in later versions.

Her eyes have been recolored, the right now of blue and the left of rose pink, each a glowing slit centering an orb of lightning-edged plasma in a black slit. The plasma flows to outline the eye-sockets with its glows, and trails off into tiny sunbursts at the corner of each eye. Her nose has been replaced with a kind of ornamental piece evoking the shape of a nose without its nasal slits or humanizing forms.

Between her luscious black lips, many sharp shark-like fangs bristle, her grin still friendly, but with a distinct predatory edge, and behind them can faintly be seen a whirlwind of glowing blue energies. Her ears have been embellished with curving forms like tongus of fire flowing backward from their edges. Altogether, the changes mean her face still looks humanoid, but not at all human.

Azure Queen (2020). Originally intended to be a self-insert, but aside from the outfit, so much of this design was driven by what I assumed others desired of me, rather than what I truly desired for myself, that I don't see myself when I look at it. Might be worth making her her own thing!

A towering demoness of snow-white skin, her arms bulging with massive power-lifter muscles and spanned wide to grip an enormous odachi behind her back. It's an elaborate thing in full tachi koshirae, with deep blue silk wrap on both its grip and the scabbard near the silvery mouthpiece. Most of the scabbard is a vivid blue in shiny lacquer, or perhaps an especially reflective metal. It has a thick black-metal guard trimmed in silver, a neon-blue diamondback rattlesnake manifesting from its silhouette--a manifestation of the sword-soul. The end-cap of the scabbard is a stylized viper motif.

The demoness wears a gown of alternating lapis blue and black paneling, often divided by silver trim. Two mirror-polished sabatons poke from beneath the hem. Her long, thick tail curves around to her front, its tip a kukri blade. Two horns like recurving blades curve down around her head, a bronze circlet fused into her forehead and extending down her nose. Dramatic shadows, physically impossible in this lighting, cover one side of her face, making it appear deep dark blue. In this darkness, the sunny grin between her full black lips instead becomes a row of a glimmering metallic fangs, and in contrast to the lush blue and black viper slit of the eye in the sunlight, this eye's slit glows nova bright in a blue pit, with a corona of white light outlining its blue iris.

A sash of icy blue, trimmed in white patterns evoking winter winds, wraps her waist, and on her right hip hangs what looks to be some sort of metallic carrying case for a single book. The front of her gown exposes generous cleavage, though it's modest compared to the enormous biceps on either side. Scales in icy blue dust her collarbone, with one shaped like a little stylized heart tucking its tip right in to the crevice of her breasts. A book-shaped pendant in silver and copper hangs into that tender valley.

Kirai (2020). Kotoe's peppy younger sister. Forgoing the Severant Breath school's fatalistic ways to seek her own path, Kirai approaches life and martial arts with a playfully passionate attitude. Her bokken are enchanted to cause no harm, allowing safe full-force sparring with any partner.

An onna-musha with light olive skin and a slender figure. She strikes an idol pose, one arm flashing the peace sign to the as she grins sunnily. Her lips sport shiny purple lipstick, and her eyes are a metallic grey that seems faintly to shine. She wears a green gi, which exposes just a glimpse of her cleavage, and purple hakama. She has black hair messily held back in a green topknot, and has not shaven her pate. A pair of black wooden swords hang crossed on her back, lavishly engraved with golden patterns evoking a mix of kanji, katakana, and circuitboard patterns.

She leans an absurdly long odachi over her right shoulder, its blade at least as long as she is tall--likely longer. It features a complex gunome-style hamon, lots of bubbly hills polished white to contrast the black tamahagane of the flats and spine. Its grip features purple silk wrapping over white rayskin, with a tachi-style kashira and backstrap in gold which, peculiarly, only cover the lower two thirds of the grip, with a golden spacer-band separating them from the silk under the guard. The guard is a golden disk with an ornament looking like some sort of blossom aligned to the blade's edge.

Even her eyes are black pits with eerie, wolfish glows at their core. She stretches forward, body thrown so far into her lunge that her posture as much resembles a beast hunching before the leap as it does a trained warrior.

Sevrakai (2019). A superficially-humanoid swordswoman with snow white skin, who looms over the viewer as she draws a huge Kriegsmesser-style greatsword. Its guard is a broad gold crossguard with sharpened ends, bolstered bya thick disc on either side filled with some sort of design: an outer ring of golden four-point stars, a middle ring of blue, an inner of purple, and in the center a blood-red sphere with a sliver of something white inside it. The grip and pommel look to be either mild steel or silver, etched with complex designs that are difficult to read due to their fine detail and distance from the viewer.

Her hair is a wild main of inky black streaming around her into streaks of sunset fire, her face a sculpted diamond, with rosebud lips painted purple and stretched in a sadistic grin. Each eye is a black pit centered by a sunburst of purple plasma, dancing with eager lightning.

She wears a surcoat with elbow-length sleeves, its color a lustrous ultramarine blue trimmed lavishly with silver. The trim forms designs that range from a mix of blossoming and dead branches at the lower hem, to a stylized diagram running from knees to hips which difficult to read due to the angle and her long stance, but seems to depict gun turrets of strange form on some sort of platform on the right hip, and some sort of eerie star with tentecular energies on the left. This design is separated from the lower hem by thick black bands, the right of which falls directly on the knee of the woman's leading leg.

Parallel striping on the shoulders and golden trim in the black-paneled center of the surcoat breaks up the blue. She wears elaborate sabatons with faceted fronts, and bracers of similar make. She seems to be wearing some sort of breastplate under the surcoat, but it's hard to see clearly from this angle.

As we close into range I keen the blade-song with lilting wordless cries, limbs quickening despite the panicked inner whisper that we fly to close to the surface, they will see our shadow! Swells of determination, euphoria, furious will carry me beyond doubt. Emerald distortions along Sunset’s blade bring out its edge with a hyper-keenness beyond mundane sight. Then all is rush, a Baphomet cultist, robes and banded armor and a bronze goat’s head mask, looming through the red haze to drop their glaive into line.

Its butchering point shoots toward me. Muscles tense for a frantic deflection, Sunset howls—contact, fine steel sparking on langets, shaving wood-strips, shearing something softer before sight even registers I’ve passed by unscathed. Flowing on from a final backhand flick to disarm the glaive, I whirl the greatsword through to present its point. Gale in the pines, I’ll never get used to that—why must every flesh-sense dance to a different pace than the others?!

“W-wait!” the cultist snarls, clutching a right hand of bleeding stumps. “You’re a tiefling—“

I glare. Arms catapult forward, ramming the blade through red linens and gagging throat. The lunge’s force lifts the bastard clean off their feet, magic and raw psychic intent keeping the sword from bending under the weight. Something grates, then crunches, crackles—must’ve hit right between the vertebrae. Wet darkness soaks through the robes, severed veins sending a few droplets splattering out, as the cultist’s legs kick once, then settle to feeble jerkings. I feel what my heart knew I would: fierce exultation, warrior pride, and a tingling swell of arousal in my depths. One day I’ll catch one of these usurping parasites outside mass battle, and when I pin that one down… enough! Focus, girl!
