More in "games I bought ages ago and played for 5 minutes", Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Such a beautiful game! I cannot believe it spent 7 years sitting in my library. I'm like 4.5h in, and I'm really enjoying it.

Continuing with games that I bought a decade ago, I just finished Transistor (2014). Fantastic vibes. The art and music are incredible and carry the game. Overall a fun short adventure with a decent combat system. In a few months, I'm not sure I'll remember anything but the art and the vibes.

Today, my first PhD student, Nicola Nari, became Dr. Nari. I'm so proud and happy! He got the highest possible grade for his thesis on the search for Earth planets orbiting Sun-like stars 🔭 #exoplanets

In the end, these planets are not heavy super-Jupiters, but most likely puffy balls of gas #exoplanets 🔭
And what about RV? These stars are nasty. Analysing their RV data is very difficult. Even extracting the data is very difficult. We re-extracted the RVs taking into account the extreme line broadening (40 km/s). What we saw is that the planet variations could not be large. #exoplanets 🔭
Here you can see all the data we obtained. We used TESS, CHEOPS, NGTS, ASTEP, and LCO. On top of the figure you can see the probability distribution of new transits of the second planet. For planet c, the data mostly creates "forbidden regions" where a transit is not happening. 🔭 #exoplanets
In addition to the CHEOPS data, we managed to get ASTEP+ photometry of the same transit, and of an additional 4th transit. Now we had four transits of the system, and observations in the epochs related fo P/2. The orbital period was not 109 days but 225 days. #exoplanets 🔭
With a second transit we weren't going blind anymore. Potential orbital periods need to match both. With that information, and also using other data we had been obtaining, we constrained the period candidates. Here's the plot I made in 2024 to plan a CHEOPS campaign to chase the planet #exoplanets 🔭
Leaving today the observatory on a foggy day. We managed to get ~12 hours of data in 5 nights. Not ideal, if you ask me 🔭#exoplanets
Another nigh in which we can't observe because of high humidity! So lets enjoy the short drive from the residence of the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory to the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo, home of the HARPS-N specteograph 🔭#exoplanets
It also shows information, in real time, about the ongoing observations. Currently, it is performing calibrations for the imager+spectrograph instrument OSIRIS 🔭
The website shows, live, the all-sky camera, an outdoors camera, the dome, and the current pointing. It gives the coordinates of the pointing, and the information from their own weather station 🔭
Beautiful view of the GTC under think clouds a few minutes before sunset. Not great for astronomy. 🔭#exoplanets
