Caught this bee crawling into the trumpet of a flower on the cross vine. Cross vines can try taking over in a garden but this grows on a trellis and has been very manageable. Little trim with some garden shears keeps it behaving.
Thank you, the one up front looks like a frazzled poodle staring at me. Once I saw the two eyes and snout I couldn’t un-see it. Keep a vase on the kitchen counter I think of as ‘color on the counter’ and it’s just nice having something out of the garden next to the coffee pot.
This one seems to really like its spot in the garden, six feet tall at the moment and has sprouted two additional trunks at the base. Generally blooming from Thanksgiving well into January and when we get the occasional warm day in the Atlanta area this gets swarmed by the local bees.

There is a documentary called ‘John Lennon’s Jukebox’ about this portable, large suitcase jukebox style player that Lennon had on the road while the Beatles were touring. Fascinating and well worth a watch. I saw it at least 12 years ago.

Atlanta, my hometown, has a place that makes a ‘Luther Burger’ using Krispy Kreme doughnuts for a bun. To me it just looks like a very large mess but there’s no accounting for taste. I don’t see it in this picture but it also has a fried egg on it.
He’s always an enjoyable live show. Lately I just want him not to fall when he’s roaming around the stage near the front edge. Still sounds great, still excellent on the guitar. Hopefully your wife has a fine evening out. If you’re not familiar give this one a listen. Well worth your time.
Things moving in the garden finally. I really enjoy a bit of time in the garden, tending or working the compost. Music always present, it’s relaxing and refreshing especially this time of year with everything reviving. I don’t usually get daffodils and azaleas blooming simultaneously, so be it.
I love these and have a variegated one in the garden. There is a lavender variety which I would love to have but in 5-6 years of looking I’ve not found one. These pics are from last spring when it was really putting on a lot of new growth, which comes out a very pale yellow.
They are spectacular. Meanwhile . . . Here in the Southeastern US mine have just this week broken through the dirt. Here’s a shot from last season.

Oh yes, round here the first sign is blooms opening on the Golden Forsythia. There’s a lavender variety and I won’t rest until I’ve found one.
There is a community of 50-60s era contemporary homes about 15 miles from downtown Atlanta that could absolutely be outfitted with some lovely teak Scandinavian furniture, allowing one to forget their current stream in time. Northeast Atlanta, totally enclosed little community.
This is in our home office/library but I’m pretty sure only because it works with the color scheme.
Parts of that center were used as headquarters in Captain America: Civil Wars. This is one of my lighting balloons handling business in the big open area across from the pits. Shot of the Marvel crew coming down those stairs got used. Maybe part of Tony Stark’s headquarters?
When most things in the garden have called it a day the Mahonia is just getting started. This shot taken two days ago. When we get the occasional warmer day, as GA will do, this plant will be covered in bees looking for a Winter treat. This one is currently about 6’ tall with four of these clusters.
The best car I’ve ever owned. Coming up on 300,000 any day now. Still goes like a demon.
Still haven’t really gotten past the loss of Karl Wallinger. For a boy that grew up 40 miles from Liverpool and clearly had a deep love for all things Beatles, he absorbed so much from the world of music, using it to express himself in ways both unique and familiar. Wonderful work, worth a listen.
