Like most migrants my previous home became too caustic and dangerous for my safety.
Our Barney was brought here as a kitten by Fred, another cat that just showed up. Fred was male. Don’t know where he found his little friend. Fred has since passed and Barney moved from the garage to the house with the other 3 cats. 2 goth cats have taken up residence in the garage.
The beginning of the year a monthly prescription cost $36/month. A few months ago it went to $79. Today it cost $114.48. Why am I paying more for the exact same medication? Same prescription, same manufacturer and same pharmacy.
My southerly facing windows are generally occupied with my citrus trees during the cold season, so I opted for a small setup I purchased online. I ended up purchasing 2 different brands. I like the black one the best. I also use mine to start seedlings for greenhouse and garden.
This is an online pick for clarity. They used straw. I used hay. I used the same fencing though.
This is from last year when they first started sprouting. I have them in a fenced in area around my greenhouse. My chickens are free range. My garden is fenced away from them. I just searched potato tower online and found a how to. The trick is keeping it well watered and using a good potting mix.
My favorite tom was Frankie. He had the most beautiful blue eyes. He was super protective of me. If strangers came around he’d stand between us. Now I have Ballhead. His siblings pulled a caruncle loose. It hangs by a thread and bobs like he’s a paddle ball.
My son brought these in and said there’s a butt hurt chicken out there. I thought one was complaining that another was sitting too long. He says “no mom, look at these. Her butt must really hurt.”
My oldest cat will sit at the back door watching me do my evening routine of locking up things and putting chickens/turkeys to bed. If it starts getting too late she begins to plaintively yowl as if I’m about to get eaten by wolves. Once I’m in and the door is locked she sits on the couch to love me
I get up, let the cats out of their cage, feed them breakfast, make my coffee while they eat, grab a cup and a slice of coffee cake, sit on couch, set everything aside and make time for my Sassy. Any of the others attempt to steal her morning love and they get reminded why she’s named Sassy Pants.
This boy likes to steal beanie hats, then make a mad dash out to the other end of the pasture and drop it before prancing back all giddy like. I fooled him by wearing a hat that ties on. He not like. He also steals beer from my husbands bottle and pretends like he’s innocent when he drops it.
I hand raised Charlie. He was from a litter of 4. He would not wean. He was 3 1/2months old still refusing to eat cat food and screaming for his bottle. The other 3 were long past that nonsense. He sucks on blankets and kneads daily. Has done it for 4 years. He’s just whiny like that. Cute though.
Because my son never answers his phone they call my phone. After numerous negative response’s from me they are now texting. My older son served and was deployed to Iraq in 03. No way am I allowing my younger son to be sent to a gop war zone. He can keep his butt in school for 20 more years.
We just trapped our 18th cat in the 3 years since we started. It’s getting too expensive. This young man is about a year old with (per the vet) startling white teeth. He looks just like a cat we fixed last year. Since our old garage cat died my husband wants me to train them to take over there.
Girl turkeys are the best. Any time I’m feeling blue my girls will cuddle and lay their heads over my shoulder like a hug. Eliza used to come warm up on her mat when the weather was rough. Frankie would run around outside freaking out cause he couldn’t find her. I miss those guys.
The black seed Simpson always do so much better than any other lettuce in my hydroponics. We’ve been trimming out leaves here and there for salads, but soon it’ll be time to harvest the whole plants. Time to start some new seed/pods to replace as I harvest, so I have constant homegrown supply.
Just used half of the very last jar of purple sauerkraut. Making turkey brats for lunch. We’re using almost everything made/raised by me. The only purchase was the buns. My hand is still healing from surgery, so commercial bread it is. Son pealed potatoes for fries, and even the condiments I canned.
Do you have storage issues? I don’t understand why you dehydrated things that can be stored for long periods. It literally takes about 20 to 25 minutes start to finish to make a fresh soup. I do it almost daily.
In my very white rural area seasonings for good food are hard to come by, so I often order things I need. My son brought a box in that had my name on it and loudly proclaimed it was “food of the gods”. Not knowing what it was off hand I opened it like it was Xmas morning. Kids right.
A word of advice my fellow long haired ginger that hates being brushed. Don’t resist, or they SHAVES you. I will admit I kinda likes the sweaters, but the indignation was tough to swallow. My sister lost some whiskers and looks way stupider.
I grew mine in towers this year. I didn’t get as much as in ground, but the condition of the finale harvest was far superior. Does require more monitoring of water, takes longer to plant, but no hilling, no weeding, digging and oddly no bugs. Just water daily. Got maybe 40lbs per tower.
Decided to try my hand at French cut green beans. Normally I just snap em, but I seem to be a bit bored with the same ole stuff. I’m drying tomatoes today, and decided to throw some different seasonings on them for a change up. If we don’t like them it’s chicken food over the winter.
