Slight drama on our post-gig Midsummer walk back along the Regent's Canal, unattended, unextinguished bonfire by the Angel end. Plenty of water, but no buckets, so we did call the fire brigade. Pretty smokey, too. (Dickheads.)

It's more fun when you cycle the coefficient in the logistic map over four values, which also rotate as two pairs in two circles. You also need to treat each histogram of iterations as a spectrum you inverse discrete cosine transform to make noises.

Three stacked CAs for the R, G and B channels. Oh Well.

Still with a threshold of 5 cells in the next state to advance, but the neighbourhood is a disc of radius 7 cells, and it eventually ends up a bit "80s". ('Sky's shitty compression really massacres the early iterations. Looks 'orrible.)
If one lets them run for 2000 iterations, they resemble the images in Griffeath's chapter in the book. (Read the book.)
Griffeath's "Cyclic Demons" cellular automaton, where a cell changes to the next state in the sequence if it has sufficient neighbours in that state. Instead of a N, E, S, W neighbourhood with a threshold of 1, as is "traditional", here a 5*5 neighbourhood with a threshold of 5 for 8 states is used.
The Green Ethereal Squiggles should make the noises, not the other way around.
It's The Critic. There are machines for reading The Critic so no-one else has to. WTF are there print copies at railway stations? (Have run this up in a good while: github.com/augeas/trans...)
