Thanks for asking! This piece is thrown on the potter's wheel, with an inset band. Then I attached a textured slab so there's a thin void between the body of the mug & the slab. This will insulate the users hand from heat. It's not fired yet so I haven't been able to test drive it.
I think I've solved the problem of heat transference in handmade stoneware mugs.
