I’m finally getting around to reading Degrees of Difficulty: How Women’s Gymnastics Rose to Prominence and Fell From Grace by Georgia Cervin. Recommended! “Degrees of Difficulty tells a story of international friction, unexpected cooperation, and the legacy of abuse and betrayal”
Hear hear: “Perhaps if we called these peptides “experimental hormones", or better yet, “experimental hormones whose functions are not well understood", maybe more people would understand why scientists and physicians want more research done before they are approved as medicine.”
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) Montmartre: Behind the Moulin de la Galette
Section of Tree Roots by Van Gogh “Van Gogh painted this landscape on the outskirts of the village of Auvers. He depicted the tree roots from very close up, whereby the composition lacks a horizon and sense of depth. As a result, the painting makes an almost abstract impression.”
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) Pine Trees in the Fen Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam (Vincent van Gogh Foundation)
A section of Vincent Van Gogh’s Garden with Courting Couples: Square Saint-Pierre
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) Oude Arlésienne, 1888 (An Old Woman of Arles)
It is very fun to be in Norway the day they go to the World Cup quarterfinals for the very first time!! 🇳🇴 @jackiantonovich.bsky.social
NYT comment: “That guy’s not safe”. I remember it so clearly because it was a weird way of putting it. I asked for clarification and he said that Platner is a guy that wants to burn things down, maybe his reasons are yours but he isn’t doing it for you. He is doing it because he likes how it feels”
I see all the logos have been removed for FIFA and the game is taking place at Field
So far they have sampled about 1/3 of the cooling towers in the affected region
Awww, I don’t know if this is the specific tree that caused my outage, but I’m bummed that it was downed. I liked going past this tree on my way to campus. RIP. Photo: Rich Rolen/Special to The Morning Call www.mcall.com/2026/07/04/a...
This is not a great time for a lengthy power outage. “An estimated restoration time for your specific outage is not yet available, but we expect to restore power to your region by 11:00 PM Wednesday, 07/08… Currently, about 143887 customers are being affected by outages.”
I don’t exactly have the power of an AOC endorsement, but I’ve known Abdul for quite some time and I would be thrilled to see him represent public health in the Senate. He was our class speaker when I graduated from undergrad (Go Blue!) and then I got to know him better when were both at Columbia.
I’m not a fan of the humidity, but I sure love all the local vegetables this time of year
Congratulations Cape Verde!!! 🇨🇻 So happy Vozinha’s mother was there!
Even fancy restaurants on Madison Avenue are showing World Cup games now
