Ben that's boring, we want to hear about arcane continuity. The handbook lores the location out more specifically. We get a map of Charybdis over the familiar WCU map and an article confirming Pegasus was in the Dakota System (the system with the Watson's Disease outbreak in the original game).
I just realized that the geography is accurate in the intro... but they've actually darkened ULYSSES CORRIDOR to the point that it's hard to read and CG'd in PEGASUS. Capture vs. physical map painting inset:
It also tied in to the (mostly) dropped Forever War time dilation stuff. Initially, Paladin’s jump cuts 30 years off the trip! The shooting script changed that to saving “four days hard travel.”
Basically, it’s the fancy tube seen in these maps. The region of space between Pegasus and the Charybdis quasar (hence the name). It’s again not obvious but the bulk of the movie is supposed to be a chase through that space.
In the final movie it’s mentioned only twice. Paladin’s line above and this supertitle at the start.
Here's a fun one, from an article about Origin in a 1991 Computer Game Review. The top right photo is of "green guns", the always-ongoing company-wide laser tag game. One of those classic company culture things ex-Origin folks speak of with reverence!

October 1997 PC Gamer preview of Wing Commander Prophecy with some neat concept art! Note that neither of those are by Syd Mead and also neither is an alien capital ship. The Tri-Ray was renamed the Skate by release. The "Jaguar" in the other caption is an error, it was never a name for the Panther.

Some folks are remembering Tom Wilson being on Voyager. He was never on the show but he did voice an original character in the Voyager Elite Force game!
And here is frequent extra Linda Li in Insurrection and two episodes of Voyager (she tries to strangle B'elana with a lei). She's "Lisa", the bubbly background pilot seen in many cutscenes in Wing Commander Prophecy!
And that's Suzanne Ircha as a go-go dancer in the James Bond episode of DS9 and as Confed Redshirt #4 in Wing Commander IV. She's a really interesting one; she's married to the owner of the New York Jets today and is said to be good friends with the first lady.
