I'm a trombonist- performer and educator- based in the Midwestern USA. Besides that, I cook a lot, hang out with my lovely wife, enjoy movies and video games, reading and walking, building Legos, cars, football, etc.
Fuck, it stuck on the tray. I think it's some combination of the dough being too thin and too many toppings for that thickness. 😪
OK time to assemble. Base layer- sauce, Canadian bacon (not usually part of a muffaletta, but i think it works, plus, I had it), and the olive salad
More toppings- sliced spicy salami, a teeny bit of provolone cheese, and cute baby sweet peppers
Going along with this week's theme of sandwich-inspired pizzas, this one is going to be inspired by the Muffaletta sandwich, a classic New Orleans deli sandwich, featuring cold cuts and an olive salad. I'm starting with some spicy giardenera that my dad made as the base for the salad:
Today's pizza photo diary- I've got the dough stretched out and ready to go- I'll get it topped once I know my wife is on her way home. With my limited dough-making skills, I made a no-knead dough, with about 65% hydration.
My sister's goofy little dog isn't especially fluffy on his own, but he does like fluffy blankets. Hope everything is OK.
Time to cook. Sautée the sausage in a big pot until its got some nice color all over.
I've got half a smoked sausage from a cool little family butcher shop in Ohio that my dad and I visit now and then- I'll chop it into quarter coins.
Other odds and ends- a whole lot of garlic, and a bunch of picked fresh thyme leaves
I want all of the vegetables to basically dissappear into the final dish, so I'm chopping everything to a pretty small dice
Ok, bean time! Here's the vegetables for the base- a mix of celery, onions, and peppers. Yes, green bell peppers would be more authentic, but I'm using poblanos and a few sweet red peppers, cause I've got them in the fridge.
I'm making New Orleans-ish red beans and rice tomorrow, so time to start soaking the beenz. Anyone want photos on progress?
Finding joy in the little things in these dark times. Don't apologize for wanting comfort food now and then.
Aww man I hope you feel better. I'm sending you a hug from our squishy pig buddy, and the christmoose.
