Growing up, I always thought of black squirrels as “Harvard Squirrels” owing to my experience of their natural distribution. Little did I know, the melanistic eastern gray squirrel is endemic to ivy league colleges generically. Only the Harvard Squirrels at UPenn, however, come when called.
