I recently finished TORMENTED SOULS, and, look, this game is definitely flawed. It's a low budget fair made by like 2 Argentinians. But the atmosphere and aesthetics? FUCKING A!! Outstanding. It had me unnerved and kept me going to the end. And aside from a frustrating final boss, I had a good time.

10) 500 DAYS OF SUMMER — The romantic movie of the millennial generation, one whose core message is still misunderstood despite being clearly stated. One with an optimistic ending if you’d just pay attention.
9) HARLEY QUINN AND THE BIRDS OF PREY I love for the simple fact that we FINALLY have a superhero movie with fights that feel like actual fights as opposed to cgi slugfests. There is weight here, actual stunts pulled. YOU CAN SEE FIGHTS ACTUALLY HAPPENING. Too bad the genre still won’t learn!
8) SPLIT FICTION — played this all the way through with a friend of mine recently, and while this game has a basic story, it’s the gameplay that absorbs me. It’s a unique action platformer and puzzle solver that stands out in a sea of same-y AAA games. This shit is fun.
7) Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) — This one makes me sad ngl. Kamala Khan was what Marvel needed to get the then current gen of teens into comics. She should’ve become their Peter Parker instead of being squadered. And nothing proves that more than the initial run by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
6) “Brian Azzarello writes a Superman book” sounds like a joke, but it’s real and, honestly, it slaps. It‘s a darker story but not in a try-hard grimdark way. Superman makes a terrible mistake when trying to do good, and he has to correct it. Better than what ZSnyder did with him!
5) Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga — I don’t often post about video games, least of all Nintendo, but this game is so fun. An upbeat turn-based RPG that’s addictive to play. I should know, I spent the summer of 2003 with my face buried in my GBA over this thing!
4) BLACK PANTHER — Look, say what you will about the MCU (and anyone who knows me knows I have A LOT of bad things to say about it), but Ryan Coogler cooked here! He made something that actually felt grand and operatic. Chad Boseman was a treasure taken from us too soon!
3) MAMO — Sas Milledge Was this comic slept on? Idk, it shouldn’t be though because this one of the few times a western cartoonist got Hayao Miyazaki beyond aesthetics and understood why his work for younger audiences is profound, and it does so while being its own unique adventure. Great YA comic
2) Torches — Foster the People This whole era of alt rock and pop (2009-2015 roughly) is overlooked and even hated on currently, but Torches is a fantastic album. It’s not just Pumped Up Kicks. Personal fav tracks are Waste and Don’t Stop (Color On the Walls).
1) X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX. Yeah, I‘m as shocked as you are, but what can I say? The movie has a unique scifi horror feel going on, and it’s the only movie that ever called out Professor Xavier for using teenagers as a paramilitary army in which he spent a lot of time keeping “bad” mutants in check.
I started playing CROW COUNTRY last night, and I love it. A slow-going 90s survival horror game that doesn't feel like it merely wants to be an RE classic clone, but take that foundation to make a fresh, strangely whimsical IP. Can't wait to finish it.
I don’t much care for Hasan Piker myself, but some of ya’ll hate the man to an unhealthy degree, and it shows.

Damn lol (and same) all right, maybe DOLLS? It’s a Stuart Gordon movie without amy Lovecraft and instead is a dark fairytale about a lonely, abused girl who befriends a bunch of vengeful, living dolls.
KURONEKO. A woman and her daughter-in-law are raped and murdered by a gang of samurai. They come back as vengeful spirits and pick their murderers off one by one. Things get complicated when the son/husband returns, and he’s now a samurai.
It's been a looooong day. Judge my tastes based on 4 of my favorite video games of all time.
