Everything is soft and slightly out of focus, but the beauty still shines through. A faint pink band running between the rich brown patches indicates that this is a male. Like all silkmoths the adults do not feed and live for about 7 to 10 days.

Six men of various ranks in the US Union Army are positioned in a sunny grassy field around a Civil War era canon during a firing demonstration. They are all wearing lighter blue or gray pants and navy coats with red piping. A large white cloud of smoke expands in the upper right corner of the frame against a clear blue sky overlooking the Potomac River. A small hill blocks most of the view of the river and is the original earthen boundary of the fort.

Point Lookout is located on a peninsula between the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay and was important during the Revolutionary War and War of 1812, but it is most famous for being the largest Union run prison camp during the Civil War. Over 50,000 prisoners were held here after the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863 through the end of the war with more than 20,000 held at one point. Becoming a small city, it had a unique wheel spoke hospital, a light station, massive multiple buildings serving as kitchens, one guard for every twelve prisoners, and terrible conditions.

Its entire body is out of focus but its lowered wings are especially blurred in motion and the camera speed was slow enough that it created a double exposure giving the impression that there is a third detached wing above the bird's rear end. To the left of the frame on one of the drooping leaves is a small white insect that can only be seen well by zooming in.

The cliffs hold fossils that wash to the beach below where people can hunt for them while enjoying the scenery.
