Accidental Anarchist. Retired journalist and NUJ Life member but still a union activist. Garage artist just for the joy of it. Stout drinker again just for the joy of it. Ex-rugby union player. For my sins in a past/current life still a ManU fan.
It’s been a struggle and we continue to fight to keep what we have won.
Who is that stunning person in blue? Ahem... a happy anniversary to Craig and my daughter Megan (a real princess).
Scrummy: Even on a hot day you can’t keep a paddy from his bacon, black/white pudding, peppery turnips and buttery spuds.
Dog day afternoon: a meandering in the sunshine today while keeping the mutts cool. (61 cms w x 47.5 cms h).
Special visitor: A wee, wee, tiny ladybird joined me for an afternoon drink in the garden.
RED AlERT: Antifa exists. Don’t tell Trump/Vance/Hegseth that Europe, Canada and Mexico is fully infiltrated infiltrated and the USA is next. My new painting was finished today (100 cms w x 150 cms h).
A question being asked by the brother of Northern Ireland murder victim, Natalie McNally, that needs answered.
@jconnollybooks.bsky.social Shite Irish weather for June: The beard, beanie and I relaxing with a beer and reading another top notch Charlie Parker thriller. Have to read it now as we can’t wait for the hols later in the year. Hopefully, he will have another book out by then or a TV series to watch.
Bigger picture: An untidy crypt as the larger canvasses need safe storage to dry and be tweaked before varnishing. No place to set me arse and cogitate. The beard, beanie and I will get there and begin smaller canvas work in a week or two. Now green fingers required and tidying up the garden begins.
Burnt Rose: Too good a day to waste this afternoon as the beard, beanie and I nearly finish our last big canvas in Series One: Canvas Four. The Irish rain was held at bay by the sun breaking through and it gave us the opportunity to start and, with a few minor tweaks to go, finish.
Trois Bleus To hot for the beanie today so the beard and I cracked on with painting Series One: Canvas Three. Lucky for us the weather was beautiful and we managed to complete in one session. A few stouts along the way and now a bottle Lidl French vino before a clean up and Sunday dinner. Happy days
Deadly figures: The number of journalists killed while doing their jobs.
Memories are made of this: My mucker and NUJ comrade Joe Mitchell called at my door tody and presented me with this little bit of journalistic trade union history. A wonderful gift from an equally wonderful comrade.
Pinkos about: The beard, beanie and I are happy to write that Series 1: Canvas 2 is finished.
"Our demands most moderate are: we only want the earth." James Connolly
Remembering a socialist who was murdered on this day, 100 years ago, while injured and sitting on a chair and falling into a ready made grave.
Sunny disposition: The beard, beanie and I are glad to see the good weather and we can announce that Series One: Canvas Number One is complete. Just needs a few edges to clear up and then dry and a varnish.
It begins: The beard, beanie and I now go big with the paintings, beginning with the first of four in Series One. Hoping the rain will keep away.
Mahatmadole send off: Big Jim’s funeral was yesterday and he was sent off in style with wonderful eulogies at the service in Belfast. He is pictured here with Lindy, Sully and the beard, beanie and I in November last year after a day out with friends to catch up on the gossip. Great memories.
